I recently wrote that McDonald’s was introducing a new burger and McFlurry to their menu for a limited time.
While I’ve been curious about both items, I was more interested in trying out the burger, the Smoky BLT Quarter Pounder with Cheese.
I wasn’t interested in eating a whole McD’s burger so I ordered it for my 10 year-old Lucas, minus the “T” (tomatoes). He was willing to share and I took a bite or two to see what the burger was like.
Here’s some info about the Smoky BLT Quarter Pounders with Cheese.
According to mcdonalds.com, it “features a 100% fresh beef quarter pound patty cooked right when you order.. It’s topped with two slices of melty American cheese, thick-cut Applewood Smoked bacon, fresh Roma tomatoes, shredded lettuce and smoky sauce – and it’s all served on a toasted sesame seed bun.” I expected this limited time burger to come in a special box but it was in a regular Quarter Pounder with Cheese packaging. When I saw this, I hoped they didn’t give us the wrong item…When we opened up the box, we saw a pretty hefty-looking burger. What stood out most was the good-looking bun and nice chunks of bacon sticking out. After removing the burger, you could see this was a pretty big burger. I mean at 770 calories, it has to be…
I took the first bite and was impressed. For a fast food burger, it was pretty decent and the flavor was enjoyable enough. The bun was pretty fresh as were the shreds of lettuce and the bacon added a lot of flavor along with the creamy smoky sauce. The burger patty had some texture and there was a little flavor but it didn’t do much for the sandwich.
Overall, we found McDonald’s Smoky BLT Quarter Pounders with Cheese to be a positive addition to the menu. While I’m not a big fan of their burgers, this Quarter Pounder did have pretty good flavor due to the smoky ingredients.
Would you give this limited time item a try?
