The has inspired many around the world to make food a big part of their travels. late Anthony Bourdain
While planning to visit new places, I look for ideas where to eat based on places featured on Food/ Travel shows. Places recommended by Anthony Bourdain tend to just about always be really good.
On the New Jersey episode of Parts Unknown (which aired back in 2015), Bourdain visited Hiram’s Roadstand in Fort Lee. Since seeing the episode, I’ve wanted to visit.

When visiting an international destination, I always make it a point to visit McDonald’s.
Besides being a real treat for my kids, I love seeing what interesting (and sometimes local) menu items might be offered.
I’ve also been to some very interesting looking McDonald’s. A couple that stand out is one with Maori cavings in New Zealand and another in
which has a train car attached to it! Pennsylvania Continue reading Bad News: Unique McDonald’s Times Square Closing For Good
Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich debuted late last summer and it became an instant hit. People were literally fighting to get their hands on it and eventually it sold out. It took months before the sandwich returned to stores.
We were away when the sandwich came out so the day it returned I headed over the the local Popeye’s to finally give it a try. I wasn’t impressed with the sandwich at first and felt that
. this sandwich was better Continue reading Get A FREE Popeyes Chicken Sandwich For A Limited Time
During summer 2019, the Michael W Travels family spent four weeks traveling around South Asia. During the trip we visited five countries in the region.
When visiting a new country, we make it a point to stop at McDonald’s. The primary reason is to see what local/ unique menu items are available. It’s also a treat for our two kids!
While visiting Sri Lanka, we ended up dining at McDonald’s as our final meal. We stopped into a location in the country’s capital, Colombo.

While my blog is primarily about travel, I also write quite a bit about food.
Food and travel intertwine and great trip or destination is even better when enjoying local food is also involved.
During the COVID-19 pandemic we haven’t been traveling but we’ve still been eating some great food. I’ve made it a point to try to support local businesses that I hope will come out of this situation still standing (serving?).
A couple of weeks back, a friend of mine was texting me and asked if I got on the list to do takeout from what’s probably NYC’s most exclusive restaurants.

Chicken sandwiches have been a popular item at fast food chains for some time now.
Last summer, Popeye’s version sold out fast causing fights in some locations. It took months for them to get the item available on their menus again. Check out my post,

While visiting Georgia, we made sure to eat lots of tasty local food. We did enjoy most of what we ate but 3 of us also caught food poisoning at the end of our stay so we left the country with mixed feelings regarding the food.
Besides eating lots of local food, we also made it a point to stop into McDonald’s Georgia to see what was offered and if any local dishes made an appearance on the menu.

While we’re stuck inside due to the coronavirus pandemic, I’m trying to catch up on posts I had previously planned to write…
I’ve been working on catching up on my McDonald’s reviews!
During the summer of 2018, we went on a month-long trip to Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. The first stop of this trip was to Belarus. While there we stopped into a McD’s location in the country’s capital, Minsk.

During Winter Break 2019, the Michael W Travels family took a road trip to the Deep South.
This was an interesting experience for us and probably the longest amount of time we spent driving on a daily basis for a prolonged amount of time.
We headed off from our home in Brooklyn, NY, making stops in states like Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama and North Carolina. Some of the states we had previously visited, for others it was our first time checking them out.

While my kids love McDonald’s (more so for the toys than the food), I love visiting the Golden Arches while traveling to see what’s offered in international destinations.
To date, I’ve posted about McD’s in 25 countries. (Check the bottom of the post for links to my reviews.)
I don’t know a lot about the company’s charities, but I’d guess that we’ve all heard of the Ronald McDonald House.
