Is NYC’s Di Fara Pizza Destination Worthy?

Di Fara PizzaDi Fara Pizza, located in the Midwood area of Brooklyn, NY is considered to be one of the best pizzerias in the country.

The pizzeria is in a bizarre location considering that it’s located is a predominately Jewish area with just about all kosher shops. Regardless, people frequently make the trek to Avenue J to try a slice.

Years back, it made headlines for charging $5 per slice which is definitely pricey for pizza but not overly ridiculous these days. Continue reading Is NYC’s Di Fara Pizza Destination Worthy?

A Tasty Souvenir From Our Trip To Iceland

icelandThe Michael W Travels family started off the summer break with a trip to Iceland.

During our trip, we focused on visiting areas in the south. We had a great time during our trip around this pricey island nation.

Food costs in Iceland can potentially break the budget but there are some ways to save. Daily supermarket visits kept the price of daily  breakfast, lunch and snacks to $25-$30 (per day for a family of 4). Continue reading A Tasty Souvenir From Our Trip To Iceland

Anthony Bourdain Recommended: Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur- Iceland

anthony bourdainWhen traveling to new places, we love trying out some of the local food. During our recent trip to Iceland, this meant trying out hot dogs which are know there as pylsur.

During our 8 days in Iceland, we tried out hot dogs at various different stands and even at gas stations. In my opinion, they’re all pretty much the same. (From what I noticed, all places serve the same brand of hot dog from the brand SS, so how different could they really be!)

However, there is one tiny stand in Reykjavik which we had to try. Continue reading Anthony Bourdain Recommended: Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur- Iceland

Disappointing Bacon Cheeseburger From The Little Owl- Once Considered Best In World

the little owlFor quite some time, I’d wanted to dine at The Little Owl to try out their Bacon Cheeseburger.

Back in 2009, The Guardian named it the best hamburger in the world. The Little Owl is still considered one of the best burgers as it came in #11 on The 101 Best Burgers In America for 2018 from The Daily Meal.

On a recent visit to Manhattan, we decided to head over to The Little Owl to see what all of the fuss was about. Continue reading Disappointing Bacon Cheeseburger From The Little Owl- Once Considered Best In World

Now, a similar project is under way at Laguardia Airport’s Delta Terminal. Continue reading Mark Iacono Of Lucali’s Consulting On Pizzeria At LaGuardia Airport

Una Pizza Napoletana Opening 2nd Location In New Jersey

Una Pizza NapoletanaA little over a year ago, I finally got to try Una Pizza Napoletana and it was amazing!

The pizzeria started out in New Jersey, then moved to NYC before leaving for San Francisco. Then in May 2018, Una Pizza Napoletana reopened on New York’s Lower East Side.

Since my initial visit, Kim and I dined their again in late 2018. The pizzas are excellent but definitely on the pricier end of the spectrum. Continue reading Una Pizza Napoletana Opening 2nd Location In New Jersey

Food Review: St. Louis-Style Pizza at Imo’s Pizza

Imo's PizzaI first heard about St Louis-style Pizza when the restaurant Speedy Romeo opened in Brooklyn.

What makes St Louis-style pizza different is that it’s made with Provel,  a processed cheese consisting of provolone, Swiss and white cheddar. The pies are also cut differently. (More on that later.)

On the long trip home from our trip to Argentina and Uruguay, we had a long layover in St Louis. I planned a few things to do with the time including trying St Louis-style pizza where it’s from! (This was planned prior to our flight being cancelled.) Continue reading Food Review: St. Louis-Style Pizza at Imo’s Pizza
