We Tried & Conquered The Philly Taco! (No, It’s Not Really A Taco)

philly tacoOver the weekend, the Michael W Travels family headed to Philadelphia for a one night stay at the DoubleTree located in Center City. (We booked the stay to use our Spend A Night On Us Certificate from our recent Hilton Grand Vacations Timeshare Offer.)

We had no set plans besides visiting the close-by Legoland Discovery Center the following day.

One of the reasons we love Philadelphia is because its such a great food city. Continue reading We Tried & Conquered The Philly Taco! (No, It’s Not Really A Taco)

Super Proud Dad Moment Inspired By Shake Shack!

Shake Shack
Wearing our Shack shirts at the Acropolis

Last week, Kim and I went up to Lucas’s new school for Open School Night.

Lucas started first grade in the Gift & Talented program at his school. The program comes with a lot of work and learning both in school and at home thanks to lots of homework!

After arriving at our scheduled time, we still had to wait around 10 minutes before going in to talk to his teacher. Continue reading Super Proud Dad Moment Inspired By Shake Shack!

Food Review: The Cheeseburger At Keens Steakhouse

keens steakhouseKeens Steakhouse is one of the oldest restaurants in NYC, founded in 1885.

Keens is famous for their outstanding mutton chop which Kim and I tried a few years back and really enjoyed. There is another item on their pub menu which I’ve wanted to try for quite some time.

I finally got to try the cheeseburger at Keens Steakhouse and in no way did it disappoint! Continue reading Food Review: The Cheeseburger At Keens Steakhouse

McDonald’s Customers Hang Fake Poster In TX Location, Get $25K From Restaurant

McDonaldsTwo McDonalds customers hung a fake poster in one of the chain’s locations “after noticing a lack of Asian representation in the marketing materials.”

The poster stayed up in the Pearland, Texas McDonalds location for 51 days. The funniest part is that it only got noticed when they posted about it on Twitter. Who knows how much longer it would’ve stayed up if they hadn’t wrote about it! Continue reading McDonald’s Customers Hang Fake Poster In TX Location, Get $25K From Restaurant

Did You Know About the McDonald’s McMansion on Long Island, NY?

McMansionMcDonald’s is a must- visit for me when checking out a new country but I rarely dine at the fast food chain while at home or traveling around the US.

I look forward to visiting McD’s when visiting new countries to see what interesting and different menu items might be available on the menu. (Scroll to the bottom for links to my reviews of various international McDonald’s.)

Around 4-5 years back I read about what might just be the fanciest McDonald’s I’ve ever seen. The McMansion was actually located close to home. We live in Brooklyn, NY and this fancy McD’s is located on Long Island. Continue reading Did You Know About the McDonald’s McMansion on Long Island, NY?

Paulie Gee’s Slice Shop- A Great New Addition To The Brooklyn Pizza Scene

Brooklyn PizzaPaulie Gee’s opened in Greenpoint, Brooklyn back in 2010. Long lines soon followed, with many wanting to try some of his great Brooklyn pizza.

Kim and I visited soon after Paulie Gee’s opened. We really enjoyed the pizza, only available by the pie. Since then, we’ve visited quite a few times, although we haven’t been there in around two years. (If you don’t arrive on weekends before opening, you’re bound to get stuck waiting to get inside.) An Awesome Local Food at Dunkin’ Donuts in Georgia

dunkin donutsThe Michael W Travels family recently returned from a month-long summer trip where we visited six new countries.

We love trying local foods when visiting new places but it’s also nice to eat something familiar at times too. We like to¬†visit McDonald’s when traveling to new countries to see what special menu items might be available. (We also tried something interesting in Singapore at Starbucks.)

During our summer trip, we spent the longest time in the Republic of Georgia, which is located in the Caucasus. Continue reading An Awesome Local Food at Dunkin’ Donuts in Georgia
