Food Review: McDonald’s Steak, Egg & Cheese Bagel!

McDonald'sIn June of 2022, on the way home from Philadelphia, we stopped in New Jersey to see One Of The Last Original Single Arch McDonald’s Signs.

As we went inside to get the kids something to eat, I noticed signage for a menu item I had never seen before.

While I wanted to try the Steak, Egg & Cheese Bagel, I wasn’t hungry so I passed on ordering this breakfast sandwich.  I searched online and saw that the sando was only available in some markets. Had I known it was a rare item, I definitely would’ve gave it a try…

I forgot about the Steak, Egg & Cheese Bagel until I recently saw it in the McDonald’s app. I’m not much of a breakfast person and usually skip eating in the morning. However, the sandwich is only available until 10:59AM so I had to break my rule so I could give it a try…a breakfast sandwich with a cheeseburger and eggSteak, Egg & Cheese Bagel A bagel freshly toasted with real butter that holds a tender, juicy steak patty, a fluffy folded egg, melty American cheese and savory grilled onions

When took out the sandwich, I was impressed- it actually smelled like steak. 🙂a hand holding a sandwichThe steak patty was made from what looked like little pieces of meat pressed together. I guess I’d compare it to a sort of sausage patty but it’s steak.

I’m sure you figured already, this isn’t any high end cut of steak but it did have good flavor. The most impressive  ingredient on the sandwich were the grilled onions. They should be offered as an add-on for burgers, chicken and whatever else. Maybe they are and I just don’t know. (I don’t really eat McD’s at home.)

As for the bagel itself, it’s really nothing special. I’d best compare it to a frozen bagel which I can’t say I’m a fan of.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, the McDonald’s Steak, Egg & Cheese Bagel was a solid item. Is it worth a try? Sure. Would I order it again? If I happen to find myself at McD’s and wanted to eat breakfast, I suppose I would.

  1. Steak egg and cheese bagel. They spelled Steak wrong. It should be STAKE- as in wooden stake. Worst piece of meat this side of jerky. Probably good for shoe repair. Love bagel sandwich at Miki Ds but this is a disaster

  2. Substitute the flat for a round McDonalds egg, and you have the perfect steak / egg / cheese breakfast sandwich with grilled onions. Presentation in a special wrapper – EZ to enjoy on the grab and go.
