My Almost Celebrity Encounter in Berlin

Berlin Cathedral

Last year I had an almost close encounter with a pretty well known actor. Kim, Lucas and I were walking from our hotel in Berlin (the Radisson Blu) to Museum Island.

Along the way we stopped to take photos of the Berlin Cathedral. We noticed people walking around, looking a bit peculiar. We walked a bit further in to get a more centered photo of the cathedral before realizing that a film was being shot. All of these random people were movie extras. To Protect And Serve…Pizza

two police officers holding a pizza box

I came across a great story which has to do with my favorite food, pizza.

The police might be going through an all-time low in popularity around the U.S. due to a couple of recent incidents which led to fatalities.

However, the police do stick their necks out on the line, day in and day out for us. When I think of the police, the motto- To Protect and Serve usually comes to mind. Continue reading To Protect And Serve…Pizza

Radisson Suspends Vikings Sponsorship

The NFL has rightfully been taking a lot of heat due to a couple of somewhat recent domestic violence cases. The league has done a very poor job handling some disgusting situations involving some players.

The league initially suspended Ray Rice for 2 games for punching/ knocking out his wife (then his fiance) in Atlantic City back in February. Only after TMZ released a video of the incident did his team the Baltimore Ravens release him and the NFL suspend him indefinitely. Continue reading Radisson Suspends Vikings Sponsorship

Get Your Southwest Branded…

a black and yellow bag with a logoEarlier in the year I wrote about how Southwest was selling reusable car seat/ stroller bags. If you’re worried about your stroller or car seat getting messed up while in transit, the bag seems to be a pretty good deal at just $15.

During our first couple of flights with Lucas, we put his stroller into a bag to keep it from getting dirty or ruined. However, we found it to be a big pain and not worth the effort. Since then his stroller has made it out safely after all of our flights. (Find out where Lucas has flown up until turning 2 this past January.)

Well enough about Southwest’s car seat/ stroller bags (and me bragging about Lucas).

I came across what could be a very useful item for some of you from Southwest. Continue reading Get Your Southwest Branded…

Some fun, strange and surprising things can happen during flights.

Last year I wrote a post about the FAA Investigating Harlem Shakes On A Plane and earlier this year the cast of the The Lion King sang during a flight in Australia.

How about being surprised by a special show during a flight! Continue reading Southwest Turns Aisle Into Runway in the Sky

Life Hacks That Have Gone Too Far

a man with a cell phone on his earI’ve come across quite a few articles related to life and travel hacks which I really enjoy checking out. Through these articles I’ve learned some neat, new tricks while also laughing at some ridiculously funny and outrageous ideas.

I guess one person’s life hack might be another’s idea of stupidity or a good laugh!

I’ve shared a bunch of these hack articles here on Michael W Travels,  with the most recent one being about 28 Brilliant Travel Hacks. I came across this article on Buzzfeed. In the article I leaned some great tricks like wrapping shoes in shower caps and putting a dryer sheet in your suitcase to keep things smelling fresh.

If you ask me, I’d say that just about everybody loves a good deal and likes to save money. This especially holds true for those of us that are involved (obsessed?) in the hobbie of collecting miles and points.

There are lots of ways to save some money- coupons, sales, special offers (like Amex Sync). The list could probably go on and on.

Buzzfeed came up with a whole list of other ways that could potentially save us some hard earned cash. Continue reading Amazing Websites That Will Save You Money

How Will You Be Arrested On Vacation- Take the Quiz

At home I try my best to be a law-abiding citizen and I’m happy to say that I’ve never had any legal issues.

While traveling to new places I like to think that I am always following the law but many times things are done differently. I’ve never had any legal problems while visiting a foreign country but I could see others getting caught doing something that they didn’t even know was illegal.
