Overbilled 30 Minutes, Uber Refunds Me…

Uber Scam

On July 4, Kim, Lucas and I had a long layover in Miami on the way home from our trip to Nicaragua.

During the layover I wondered if it was better to rent a car or use Uber.

We ended up going with Uber, only taking two rides. Our cars showed up within minutes and both drivers seemed very nice and had clean cars. It seemed like a good move to not bother renting a car….

When we got dropped off back at Miami International Airport I noticed a problem. After the ride, I didn’t receive an e-mail from Uber with our trip details including the price… Continue reading Overbilled 30 Minutes, Uber Refunds Me…

During A Layover, Rent A Car Or Uber It?

Uber It

On July 4, Kim, Lucas and I flew home from Nicaragua stopping in Miami for a long layover before getting back to New York.

All along I had a plan to get out of the airport (for around 5 hours) to spend some time wandering around Miami. However, with rentals car prices seeming to be pretty high, I debated what our best option really was. Continue reading During A Layover, Rent A Car Or Uber It?

Uber is looking for help today in New York City.

Mayor de Blasio is supporting a bill which could place limits on new drivers’ jobs due to congestion in the city.

Uber claims that this new “bill would destroy 10,000 job opportunities for New Yorkers in just one year” which could lead to less reliable service…

So how could you help Uber out? Continue reading FREE uberPOOL Rides To/From NYC City Hall Today

Uber: I Get It, Kind Of…

Uber

I’ve always been a fan of Uber for the strange promotions that they run (delivering kittens, Christmas Trees, air conditioners, they’ll even bring you lunch!) and not so much for the actual core service that they provide, giving you a ride…

Maybe it isn’t fair to judge a service that you don’t use all too much, I’d rather take public transportation. But, when you hear about the horrors of surge pricing, it defintely leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

I also had a negative experience during my first time using the service. However, Uber did make good by following up on a survey I completed and then refunded me $24.

A couple of weeks back I surprisingly used Uber two times in one day. Continue reading Uber: I Get It, Kind Of…

Driver w/ Uber Sign In Car Window Sexually Assaults Woman

Uber News

Does seeing a Uber sign in a car’s window make you trust the driver?

If you’ve requested a ride through the Uber app it’s probably safe to say that the car is legit. Once you request a ride you will know what color and the make of car coming to pick you up, along with a photo of the driver and his/ her name.

However, if you happen to see cars with a Uber sign trying to accept customers that didn’t request a ride through the app it might be a scam. Continue reading Driver w/ Uber Sign In Car Window Sexually Assaults Woman

NYC L Train Shutdown, UberPool Lowers Prices to $2.75

Last month I wrote about Uber offering a very nice deal for stranded L train passengers in New York City.

Due to the MTA shutting down the L train for 5 weekends, Uber  has been offering $5 flat rate UberPool rides along the line from NYC to Williamsburg in Brooklyn during these dates.

Uber says that “thousands of people have taken advantage of $5 UberPool flat rates between Williamsburg and Manhattan“. Continue reading NYC L Train Shutdown, UberPool Lowers Prices to $2.75

NYC L Train Shutdown, UberPool To The Rescue

uberpool

When it comes to fun promotions and capitalizing or helping out with bad situations, Uber seems to know how to make it work for them.

Uber first caught my eye due to wacky promos like delivering kittens to snuggle for 15 minutes, christmas trees on demand and air conditioners in NYC.

They’ve also received a lot of attention due to their surge pricing model. While many are against this technique, loyal riders like it since it creates more opportunities to get a car during busier times…

With the New York City MTA shutting down L train service for the next five weekends, Uber is trying to help out a bit. Continue reading NYC L Train Shutdown, UberPool To The Rescue

College basketball players might be rock stars on campus but they still need to earn some cash to pay for things.

Imagine being the star of your college basketball team and you’re currently in the NCAA tournament.

Fans can watch you playing on television or they could request a ride from you through the Uber app! Continue reading Basketball Star Drives for Uber

Uber To Create 1,000,000 Jobs For Women

Uber Jobs

As much as I don’t like Uber’s surge pricing model, they do seem to try to do a lot of good, giving back to charities and forming other interesting partnerships.

I received an e-mail yesterday from Uber about a new partnership with UN Women about “working together around the world toward a shared vision of equality and women’s empowerment“.  Continue reading Uber To Create 1,000,000 Jobs For Women
