Back in November news spread about an offer to get two free Uber rides at the Amex Centurion Lounge in New York’s LaGuardia Airport. The rides have to originate at the airport and go to a destination within the five boroughs.

When we arrived at the Centurion Lounge on the way to Toronto, I asked for an Uber code. The rep at the desk said that we could only get a code when arriving at the airport from a flight and not when departing on a flight.

Uber $20 Off + 2,000 IHG Points

Uber referrals are a great way to earn free ride credits and share free rides with others.

Referral credits typically come to $15-$20 off of a ride. The only negative I’ve noticed with these credits is that if your ride is cheaper than the credit you earned, you lose the remaining amount. (They also expire 3 months from issue date.)

Amex Offers has been adding a lot of really good money-saving offers recently with some related to travel.

A couple of weeks back there was an offer to get $50 off $100 with Airbnb. I ended up claiming this offer on four cards between Kim and myself. We see Airbnb being a likely option for our winter trip so this was defintiely good timing.

I also got two different Amex Offers to Shop Small. Those offers expire on 11/28 so I need to make sure to use them before I miss out.

Warning: Uber Surge Pricing on Halloween

There’s been lots written about the horrors of high prices associated with Uber’s Surge Pricing and many people feel strongly whether it’s for or against it.

With today being a big holiday- Halloween, Uber sent out a warning. The warning was to let us know that Surge Pricing is most likely to kick in tonight when demand is high.

Uber Now Has An In-Car Magazine

While on a flight, I like to give the inflight magazine a quick look. Sometimes I come across some interesting articles, other times I just flip through the pages…

The inflight magazine might also have valuable information like what movies, snacks and drinks are available to us. Yeah, so important… 🙂

While doing a quick search, I found out that Amtrak offers an in-train magazine called Arrive for travelers along the Northeast corridor.

Besides surge pricing, Uber is best known to me for their strange, fun and interesting random special offers that they have from time to time. (I’m thinking of  kitten delivery, Christmas Trees, air conditioners and they’ll even bring you lunch!)
