A couple dining at Balthazar in NYC got a pretty sweet deal when they ordered the cheapest bottle of wine on the menu.

It’s safe to say that the majority of us would assume that pooping on subways and busses is not allowed.

However, NYC’s MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority) was “slated to formally ban defecating on its subways, buses and transit facilities during its meeting“, according to the New York Post. Continue reading Pooping To Be Officially Banned By NYC MTA On Buses & Subways

Grab A Pie At 87 Year-Old Patsy’s Pizzeria In East Harlem, NYC

Patsy's PizzeriaLast month, I wrote about how my family got to eat a meal from NYC’s most exclusive restaurant. The restaurant is located in NYC’s East Harlem neighborhood which is a bit of a trip for us from our home in Brooklyn.

Whenever we find ourselves so far uptown, there’s a pizzeria that we have to visit. Grabbing a pie (or a few slices) from Patsy’s Pizzeria is a real treat and also pretty much a bargain. Continue reading Grab A Pie At 87 Year-Old Patsy’s Pizzeria In East Harlem, NYC

When visiting an international destination, I always make it a point to visit McDonald’s.

Besides being a real treat for my kids, I love seeing what interesting (and sometimes local) menu items might be offered.

I’ve also been to some very interesting looking McDonald’s. A couple that stand out is one with Maori cavings in New Zealand and another in Pennsylvania which has a train car attached to it! Continue reading Bad News: Unique McDonald’s Times Square Closing For Good

How We Ate A Meal From NYC’s Most Exclusive Restaurant

Rao'sWhile my blog is primarily about travel, I also write quite a bit about food.

Food and travel intertwine and great trip or destination is even better when enjoying local food is also involved.

During the COVID-19 pandemic we haven’t been traveling but we’ve still been eating some great food. I’ve made it a point to try to support local businesses that I hope will come out of this situation still standing (serving?).

A couple of weeks back, a friend of mine was texting me and asked if I got on the list to do takeout from what’s probably NYC’s most exclusive restaurants. Continue reading How We Ate A Meal From NYC’s Most Exclusive Restaurant

Beaches in New York City Will Not Reopen Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend
Not a NYC beach… (American Samoa)

Yesterday I wrote about how beaches in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Delaware would be opening on Memorial Day Weekend.

This sounded like great news. However, in New York the openings applied to state beaches. The opening of local beaches were up to the local governments as long as they could follow the state’s rules. Continue reading Beaches in New York City Will Not Reopen Memorial Day Weekend

The NYC subway system is one of the largest in the world. There are over 470 stations located around the five boroughs. For $2.75, it’s pretty amazing how far you can travel.

Another nice things about the NYC subway is that it runs for 24 hours per day or at least it did until now… Continue reading NYC Subway System Will No Longer Run 24 Hours/ Day During Pandemic

This Pizza Themed Airbnb Comes With… A Slice Of Pizza!

pizzaWe started using Airbnb during our trips back in August 2012.

After having a hard time finding a solid, affordable place in Singapore, we turned to Airbnb and it was an awesome experience. Since then, we’ve stayed in Airbnbs many times, some stays have been great, others not so much.

Over the years, I’ve come across various interesting and bizarre Airbnbs like a 6 ton potato, a vintage custom vanigloos, tents and more. Continue reading This Pizza Themed Airbnb Comes With… A Slice Of Pizza!

Awesome NYC Seasonal Burger & Ice Cream Stand Mister Dips Expanding

Mister DipsIn late 2016 I wrote a review of the seasonal burger and ice cream stand Mister Dips.

The stand is actually an Airstream trailer located at the William Vale Hotel (in Vale Park) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Mister Dips was created by restaurateur Andrew Carmellini, famous for restaurants like The Dutch and Lafayette. Both of those restaurants serve incredible burgers although they’re a bit pricer than what you’ll find at Vale Park!
