United Airlines Is In NYC’s Penn Station + Win A Trip to Hawaii

United Airlines

In late June, United Airlines opened a customer service center at New York City’s historic train station, Penn Station.

When I came across this news, (although I was a bit late to hear about it) I thought it sounded like an interesting idea. But, why would an airline need a customer service center at a train station??? Continue reading United Airlines Is In NYC’s Penn Station + Win A Trip to Hawaii

NYC’s Southwest Porch Opens

Southwest Porch

Southwest Airlines has local spaces in four cities which are meant to be an “inviting gathering place in the community” according to Nuts About Southwest.

These spaces are known as the Southwest Porch with two of the locations also having ice rinks.

While I’ve never visited a Southwest Porch, I’d like to stop by one of them in the future. Continue reading NYC’s Southwest Porch Opens

NYC Airport Workers To Strike Today

NYC Airport

Boy am I glad that I’m not flying tonight…

Yesterday I came across news of an upcoming strike by NYC airport workers. Thanks also to my friend Rene over at Delta Points for mentioning this to me.

The planned strikes should take place at JFK and LGA but there wasn’t mention of EWR airport being involved so I guess the strikes are literally taking place in NYC.

$5 off $25 at NYC Restaurants with Amex

NYC Restaurant Week

NYC Restaurant Week will be starting on Monday, July 20 and will go until August 14.

During the promotion, you can get 3 course lunches for $25 and dinners for $38. This really isn’t so cheap (add in tax & tip etc.) but if you choose restaurants which are very expensive then you might find yourself a great deal.

The last time I could recall taking part in Restaurant Week, Kim and I had an amazing meal at Tom Colucchio’s Riverpark. Continue reading $5 off $25 at NYC Restaurants with Amex

Visiting the Cathedral of Commerce, The Woolworth Building

Woolworth Building Tour

I was recently invited to take a Woolworth Building Lobby Tour.

The tour was appealing to me for a few reasons. First of all, I love learning new things about New York as well as visiting interesting sites. More importantly, the fact that the lobby is closed to the general public (unless you take one of these new tours) made me want to check it out even more!

Oh, and it’s also fun to play tourist in your hometown once in a while… Continue reading Visiting the Cathedral of Commerce, The Woolworth Building

Hotel Review: Omni Berkshire Place- NYC

Omni Berkshire Place Hotel

While many people love staying in New York City, Manhattan to be specific, I can’t say that I’ve ever had much of a need to do so.

Considering I live in Brooklyn which is around an hour to Manhattan on the train from where I live, why would there be a need to spend a night in NYC? (When I go into the city, I usually drive downtown and then hop on the train a few stops…)

In late 2014, we used an IHG Free Night on a stay at the Intercontinenal Times Square. This was totally unnecessary but a fun way to use an expiring night. We got to play tourist for part of the day,  and didn’t have to worry about hurrying home after dinner etc…

Earlier in June, we once again stayed in NYC, this time at the lux Omni Berskshire Place. Continue reading Hotel Review: Omni Berkshire Place- NYC

Uber: I Get It, Kind Of…

Uber

I’ve always been a fan of Uber for the strange promotions that they run (delivering kittens, Christmas Trees, air conditioners, they’ll even bring you lunch!) and not so much for the actual core service that they provide, giving you a ride…

Maybe it isn’t fair to judge a service that you don’t use all too much, I’d rather take public transportation. But, when you hear about the horrors of surge pricing, it defintely leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

I also had a negative experience during my first time using the service. However, Uber did make good by following up on a survey I completed and then refunded me $24.

A couple of weeks back I surprisingly used Uber two times in one day. Continue reading Uber: I Get It, Kind Of…
