Earn Up To 15,000 Bonus Points with the SPG Amex Card

I’ve had the SPG Amex card for as long as I can recall. I’ve had both versions of the card but only have the personal version now.

The SPG Amex cards have been popular due to the ability to transfer 20,000 points to airlines while receiving a 5,000 point bonus. (20K SPG would come to 25K airline miles.) Continue reading Earn Up To 15,000 Bonus Points with the SPG Amex Card

Did I Get A Retention Offer for the Mercedes Benz Amex Platinum Card?

Mercedes Benz

Around one year back I received the American Express Mercedes Benz Platinum Card.

The card comes with all of the benefits of a regular Platinum card along with a $100 certificate good for accessories from Mercedes Benz. (We got a few umbrellas and a mug with it.)

When the $475 annual fee posted, I had a big decision to make- keep it or close it. Continue reading Did I Get A Retention Offer for the Mercedes Benz Amex Platinum Card?

Free Uber Airport Rides, Up To $130 Off- Problem Resolved

Yesterday Uber NYC e-mailed an incredible offer with a holiday gift from American Express.

The gift allowed for two free rides, up to $65 which originated from a select group of airports, including all three in the NYC area.

When I went to enter the promo code, I thought it was accepted and then thought nothing more about it until the evening. Continue reading Free Uber Airport Rides, Up To $130 Off- Problem Resolved

Did I Receive A SPG Amex Business Card Retention Offer

amex spg business

Last year I wrote about my SPG Amex business card retention offer.

I was offered a statement credit for my loyalty not a credit for my annual fee. This seemed like a play on words to me but it really made no difference either way.

The annual fee recently posted once again and it was time to make a call to see what Amex could do about my annual fee. Continue reading Did I Receive A SPG Amex Business Card Retention Offer

Amex Closed, JetBlue Barclaycard Delivered- Still Hope for the Signup Bonus?

JetBlue Barclaycard

Yesterday I wrote a post wondering if you closed your Amex card in hopes of getting a JetBlue Barclaycard bonus.

While I didn’t recently have the American Express JetBlue card, Kim did. I had her close the card in hopes that she would qualify for a signup bonus for the Barclaycard version rather than just have it converted over (from Amex).

When Kim closed her card, she asked the rep if her info was already sent to Barclays and if she’d be receiving that new product. The rep had told her no.

All seemed good in terms of her applying for a JetBlue Barclaycard but now I’m not so sure… Continue reading Amex Closed, JetBlue Barclaycard Delivered- Still Hope for the Signup Bonus?

What Did I Do With 100K Amex Membership Rewards Points

Amex Membership Rewards points

I recently had a very important decision to make with 100,000+ American Express Membership Rewards points.

The fee was due on my American Express Business Gold Rewards card. At $175 per year, we’re talking a pretty significant fee. Since I had over 100,000 Membership Rewards points in my account, I needed to decide whether or not I should pay the fee or transfer my points and close my card.

I had mentioned that I would not pay the fee or transfer the card to a no fee Membership Rewards earning account in my previous post.

So what did I do? Continue reading What Did I Do With 100K Amex Membership Rewards Points

What Should I Do? 100K Amex Membership Rewards Points

Amex Membership Rewards Points

In December of 2014, the last credit card that I was approved for was the American Express Business Gold Rewards card.

The card came with a very nice signup bonus of 75,000 Amex Membership Rewards points. The annual fee was waived for the first year.

I’ve been hoping for a bonus to come along from one of Amex’s transfer partners to help decide what to do with my points. Well, that hasn’t happened and now the time has come to make a decision. Continue reading What Should I Do? 100K Amex Membership Rewards Points

Free Amex Centurion Lounge Uber Ride Earned SPG Points

Amex Centurion Lounge

Back in November news spread about an offer to get two free Uber rides at the Amex Centurion Lounge in New York’s LaGuardia Airport. The rides have to originate at the airport and go to a destination within the five boroughs.

When we arrived at the Centurion Lounge on the way to Toronto, I asked for an Uber code. The rep at the desk said that we could only get a code when arriving at the airport from a flight and not when departing on a flight.

I couldn’t imagine why this mattered considering each pass was good for two free rides. I wanted the code just in case we couldn’t make it to the lounge when we got back home. Continue reading Free Amex Centurion Lounge Uber Ride Earned SPG Points

My Amex SPG Credit Card Retention Offer

Amex SPG

Over the summer I wrote about some SPG new credit card benefits which accompanied an annual fee increase. In an earlier post I had wondered if the SPG credit card changes and fee increase was worth the perks.

I feel that deciding the value of paying a credit card annual fee has a lot to do with each individual. I could see arguments made both ways for those changes made to the SPG card.

Back in July I called in for a retention offer on my SPG Business Card. Since the fee just hit on my personal card, it was time to call in and see what I might be offered. Continue reading My Amex SPG Credit Card Retention Offer

Reminder: Amex SPG Cardholders- FREE Boingo Membership

Amex SPG

When new perks were added & changes were made to the Amex SPG credit card I wondered if the $30 fee increase was worth it.

Some positive new perks were now added but I wasn’t so sure that they were things I’d actually pay for. The new benefits went live a couple of weeks back and with them came increased 30K signup offers for new members.

Besides the SPG Amex cards no longer having foreign transaction fees, a key addition was the inclusion of free Boingo internet around the world. Continue reading Reminder: Amex SPG Cardholders- FREE Boingo Membership
