Win A Virgin Voyages Trip For 2 To Cuba With Richard Branson

Richard BransonRichard Branson is celebrating his birthday by heading off to Havana, Cuba with Virgin Voyages.

To make the event even more fun, Virgin Voyages is running a sweepstakes where one lucky winner will win a trip for two aboard the ship! The only issue with the prize is that airfare isn’t included, so the winner will have to get to Miami on their own.

While I am not a fan of cruises, I’d love to win this prize. Continue reading Win A Virgin Voyages Trip For 2 To Cuba With Richard Branson

Beer Lovers Might Want To Pass On Visiting Cuba

Beer Lovers

Kim, Lucas and I ended 2015 with a trip to Cuba, a destination I’ve long wanted to visit.

We had a really good time during our visit and the island did live up to expectations. However, the food was pretty disappointing. The beverages were a bit better with their soda TuKola being quite tasty and refreshing and their beers Cristal and Bucanero being enjoyable enough when drank ice-cold. Is This The Best Burger in Cuba?

hotel nacional

During our trip to Cuba we had to stop by the historic Hotel Nacional in Havana to check it out. While visiting the hotel, I mentioned how it felt like we were at a museum in some ways.

Free tours are offered at the property and if timing was on our side, I would’ve loved to have taken one of these tours of the hotel.

I’ve read (and heard from Anthony Bourdain) that the food in Cuba is much better than it used to be. The main reason for this is that many more private restaurants have opened in recent years. The types of food to being cooked is supposed to be creative and diverse. Continue reading Is This The Best Burger in Cuba?

Cienfuegos, Cuba

Kim, Lucas and I recently got back from our final trip of 2015 to Cuba.

Cuba has long been a country that I’ve wanted to visit and it was exciting from the moment the plane touched down. (That might also be due to the fact that we flew on Air China’s inaugural flight from Montreal to Havana!)

It was also nice to disconnect from the online world for a bit. I didn’t get on the internet or even attempt to until the last few days of our trip. Not having internet allowed me to catch up on sleep and finish off a book in no time!

What if you plan to visit Cuba and want to get online? Continue reading How To Use WiFi in Cuba

Resources for Planning A Trip to Cuba

Cuba

We recently got back from a fun and very interesting trip to Cuba.

Cuba is probably one of the most talked about destinations to visit for Americans. The country has a sense of mystique due to the fact that we haven’t been allowed to freely visit for over 50 years.

Planning a trip to Cuba isn’t much different from planning a trip to any other destination. There just happen to be more questions and unknowns prior to visiting. Continue reading Resources for Planning A Trip to Cuba

Cuba Information

Kim, Lucas and I got back from our trip to Cuba last week. Our visit has led to lots of question from friends, family and some curious readers.

It’s probably safe to say that Cuba is the most talked about travel destination for Americans these days. Cuba is an alluring destination for us Americans since we haven’t been allowed to legally visit for so many years.

The way things are going, the island should be open to Americans in the near future. Commercial flights from the US to Cuba are being restored soon which will remove once obstacle from visiting. Continue reading Reader Questions: Traveling to Cuba Info

14 Things We Learned From Visiting Cuba

Cuba

Kim, Lucas and I recently got back from our final trip of 2015 to Cuba

Cuba has long been a place that I’ve wanted to visit. I can’t say that I knew much about the island besides the fact that old American cars from the 1950s are still in use and Cubans are also really into music (and baseball)!

Visiting Cuba during the winter holidays made it a very busy time to be there. Our trip went smoothly besides having a hard time finding a car to get us to our second destination. Prior to this, we already decided to cut out one stop we planned so it ended up only affecting us in a minor way.

Here are 14 things we learned about Cuba during our trip… Continue reading 14 Things We Learned From Visiting Cuba
