Who knew that some people like to juggle while running a marathon? I didn’t but here is how I found out.
On Sunday, November 3 the ING New York City Marathon was taking place around the 5 boroughs. Kim and I had the bright idea to head to Williamsburg, Brooklyn for brunch.
We made it there in record time but once we got near the area that the marathon ran through, there was no way to drive any further. The streets were cordoned off with police roadblocks for what seemed like, everywhere! We were driving further and further from our destination and then decided to change plans and go elsewhere.

If you share the cost of your Uber ride (around NYC) using Fare Split, Uber will add $10 to you and your friend’s account.
Last Thursday (October 10), Jetblue announced a way for families to earn award flights faster by combining their points with Family Pooling. Jetblue is the only airline in the U.S. to offer such an option but expects others to follow.
With Family Pooling an account is made up of up to 2 adults (age 21 and older) and up to 5 children (under the age of 21). Members in the pool can be family or friends which makes the program extremely flexible. Each member must contribute at least 10% of the points that they earn to the Family Pool once they join.

This is a reminder that the 11th annual openhousenewyork (OHNY) weekend starts tomorrow, October 12-13. Tours and sites open for access all around the New York City area, many which are usually closed to the public.
I’ve participated in a few of the previous OHNY weekends and really enjoyed the tours. If you are in the New York City area this weekend, I definitely recommend that you try to take part.

A couple of days ago I wrote about an event that Kim, Lucas and I would be attending- Slice Out Hunger, NYC’s biggest pizza party for a good cause. 100% of the proceeds go to the Food Bank of New York City. Find out how one $1 slice of pizza become 12.5 meals in my previous post here.
Slice Out Hunger was created by Scott Wiener and is now in its fifth year. Scott is best known for his popular Pizza Tours around NYC. I took his pizza bus tour back in May and highly recommend taking one on a visit to NY or even if you live here.
The event was held last night and we had a great time & ate a lot of pizza! I hope to be able to attend every year as long as it continues to take place.
We arrived early so that we would get inside quickly once the doors opened. The event was scheduled to start at 6:00 so we arrived around 4:30. We figured that it was better to wait before the event rather than while it was going on, possibly missing out on the pizza.

Included in my ticket to the NY Trav Fest (back in April) was a spot on Scott’s Pizza Tours. The tour was a blast and we got to eat a lot of pizza at some great places and also learned quite a bit from Scott, our pizza obsessed guide.
During the tour Scott mentioned a charity event that he started a few years back called Slice Out Hunger. I kept the event in mind and hoped that we would be home when it came up.

Last week I wrote about openhousenewyork (OHNY) weekend, a weekend when access to sites all over the city are made available for tours and visits to the public.
I’ve participated in OHNY a few times but missed out last year due to a trip to Saratoga, NY over the same weekend.
There is one tour that I’ve been wanting to take part in but I’ve never had a chance. Luckily reservations are not needed so this year I will finally visit the TWA Flight Center.
We’re 10 days away from the annual openhousenewyork (OHNY) weekend.
openhousenewyork is an amazing weekend which gives access to sites all over New York City, many which are not usually open to the public.
