World’s 14 Best Aviation Museums

IMG_9161

Over the past couple of years we’ve had a chance to visit a bunch of museums dedicated to aviation and flight.

Aviation museums always seem to feel quite unique compared to your typical museum. They can also be a lot of fun for everyone. The best part is that many of them are interactive and you can even get the chance to go on some of the planes on display.

Here are the aviation museums that we’ve visited over the past couple of years:

  • The Barbados Concorde Experience
  • South Dakota Air & Space Museum
  • Mitchell Gallery of Flight at General Mitchell Airport
  • Frontiers of Flight Museum at Dallas Love Field

Is It Worth Upgrading To Economy Plus

Screen Shot 2014-02-09 at 3.20.20 AM

On Thursday evening we’ll be flying on our second trip of 2014. We’re heading back to Europe on another short trip thanks to the Wideroe mistake fare back in November.

We took a trip to Norway in January and this time we will be flying into Milan. However, we won’t be staying there too long. (More details to follow in a future post.)

The cost for each of us to fly to Milan was a real bargain. The last time we got in on a deal this cheap was when Kim and I flew to Copenhagen for $151.50 (each) round trip. That trip was almost 3 years ago to the day!

The World’s Strangest Cold Remedies

Screen Shot 2013-12-29 at 12.12.11 AMHave any of you ever gotten sick on a trip with a cold? I’d guess that many (probably all) of you have. If you didn’t come prepared with cold medicine what did you do? Go to the local pharmacy or better yet, maybe you decided to go with a local remedy.

Last month I came across a slide show from Travel + Leisure featuring the World’s Strangest Cold Remedies.

While going through the slide show I was definitely surprised by what was used to cure a cold around the world. Most of the items sound pretty off-putting however one of the items was actually a tasty dish (highlighted below) that I’ve had many times, for dinner not to cure a cold!

T+L: Europe’s Most Visited Tourist Attractions

Screen Shot 2013-12-29 at 12.12.11 AM

I came across a list of Most Visited Tourist Attractions in Europe from Travel + Leisure which was written in July 2012. I’d guess that some of the sites have changed in popularity over the past year but I still found it pretty interesting to read about.

T+L listed the Top 25 in a slide show. From the 25, I’ve been to 18 of them. I was a bit surprised at which site came in as the most visited for all of Europe. It’s a site that Kim and I weren’t even big fans of.

Budget Travel: Surprising Kidnapping Hotspots & How To Stay Safe

budgtrave

A common question that Kim and I have received over the years when traveling to new destinations is: Is it safe to go there?  Our usual answer is yes. Obviously  we aren’t  looking to put ourselves in a dangerous situation especially with Lucas accompanying us. Before planning a trip we do our research. We usually refer to travel.state.gov and travel forums like Virtual Tourist.

Budget Travel has an article which should be of interest to many of us that love to travel. In the article, BT lists a few Surprising Kidnapping Hotspots & How To Stay Safe.

USA Today: 10 Memorabe Museum Sleepovers For Kids of All Ages

Invalid request error occurred.I’ve heard about museum sleepovers but never quite understood what they were all about until recently reading an article from USA Today.

Museum sleepovers offer unique experiences which sound like a great way for kids to spend quality time with their parents and other important adults in their lives.

In the past when I’d hear about museum sleepovers, those silly Night At The Museum movies starring Ben Stiller came to mind.
