Not So Refreshing: Water On Most Flights Not Safe To Drink

water
This sounds like a better option than water!

When I fly, I usually order water from the inflight service. For all of these years, I thought I was going the healthy route to stay hydrated and boy was I wrong!

Fox News reports that “a 2019 Airline Water Study conducted by Hunter College NYC Food Policy Canter and DietDetective.com investigated the water quality on 23 different U.S. airlines. According to the results, many airlines allegedly provide passengers with unhealthy water.” Continue reading Not So Refreshing: Water On Most Flights Not Safe To Drink

happy 1st birthday
Lelepa Island, Vanuatu (8/30/17)

On August 30, 2016 the Michael W Travels family got a big surprise. Theo couldn’t wait to meet his family, arriving 5 weeks early.

It was definitely a bit scary at first. Theo had to spend some time in the NICU, although not nearly as long as what we were originally told. After six nights, Theo came home and got to meet big brother Lucas.

Boy what a difference a year makes.

Theo turned one recently and we got to celebrate and wish him a very Happy 1st Birthday in Vanuatu! (We’ve since returned home from our 5 week trip to the Pacific.) Continue reading 11 Countries Visited, 55,000+ Miles Flown- Happy 1st Birthday to Theo!

Airfare Deal Site, Please Don’t Mislead On Summer Travel

summer travel

I really appreciate sites that seek out, find and share great airfare deals.

Years back, the main site I found deals from was Airfare Watchdog through their Twitter account. Over the past bunch of years most would agree that the king of airfare deal sites would be The Flight Deal.

More recently, Secret Flying and Airfare Spot have shared deals. Continue reading Airfare Deal Site, Please Don’t Mislead On Summer Travel

It’s amazing how fast time flies.

Today is a very special day over here at Michael W Travels. My not-so-little man, Lucas turns 5 years old! We started off the festivities with a party in Lucas’s school and we’ll follow up with a dinner or two out before we have his real party over the weekend!

Lucas changed our world in so many amazing ways. He is a proud big brother, fun, loving, friendly & happy kid and a true world traveler. He’s also one of the most calm and smooth flyers I know. He definitely has me beat. I hated flying when I was a kid. Continue reading 33 Countries Visited, 220,000+ Miles Flown, Happy 5th Birthday Lucas!

30 Countries Before 4: Happy BDay Lucas- The Most Traveled Child!

Family travel

Today is a very important day for us over at Michael W Travels headquarters.

Our favorite little guy, Lucas Miles is celebrating his 4th birthday! There’s been lots of celebrating so far. Friday we had a little party in school and yesterday was his big party with a Thomas the Train and cupcake baking theme! Tonight, we’ll take Lucas out to end the festivities.

Lucas is really an amazing little boy. He’s quite curious and loves to fly and explore more than ever. During trips he’s enjoyed learning a few local words which brings a smile to all. He learned how to say hello and thank you in Myanmar and during our recent trip to Cuba, he picked up a bunch of words in Spanish. 14 Things We Learned From Visiting Cuba

Cuba

Kim, Lucas and I recently got back from our final trip of 2015 to Cuba

Cuba has long been a place that I’ve wanted to visit. I can’t say that I knew much about the island besides the fact that old American cars from the 1950s are still in use and Cubans are also really into music (and baseball)!

Visiting Cuba during the winter holidays made it a very busy time to be there. Our trip went smoothly besides having a hard time finding a car to get us to our second destination. Prior to this, we already decided to cut out one stop we planned so it ended up only affecting us in a minor way.

Here are 14 things we learned about Cuba during our trip… Continue reading 14 Things We Learned From Visiting Cuba
