America’s Coolest Small Towns for 2014

Back in October I wrote about Budget Travel’s 9th annual contest to name the Coolest Small Town In America for 2014.

The voting has ended and Budget Travel has named the Top 10.

To qualify for the title of Coolest Small Town, the town must have a population under 10,000 people.

Budget Travel: 10 Coolest Small Towns in Europe

Back in October I wrote about Budget Travel taking nominations and votes to help select the Coolest Small Town in the U.S. for 2014.

The nominations are now closed and at some point within the next week or two, finalists will be selected and readers will get to vote for a winner. (BTW- In 2013 the winner was Lititz, Pennsylvania.)

I recently came across a list by Budget Travel of  10 Coolest Small Towns in Europe.

Budget Travel: Is Your Town the Coolest- Vote Now

Last year BudgetTravel readers voted Lititz, Pennsylvania the Coolest Small Town in America for 2013. Kim and I checked out Lititz while visiting Pennsylvania Dutch Country, home to the Amish and filled with farms. We enjoyed our visit but I don’t remember it standing out any more than the other small towns in the area. Lititz is the only top small town from the list that we’ve visited. 

The other towns that made the top 5 are:

  • 2- Watkins Glen, New York
  • 3- Bay St Louis, Mississippi
  • 4- Greenville, Kentucky
  • 5- Gulf Shores, Alabama
