Poll Results: Is Uber Surge Pricing Fair?

uber surge pricingLast week I ran a poll to find out how you felt about Uber Surge Pricing. I wanted to find out if surge pricing was considered fair or something that you really don’t like….

With New Year’s Eve being a crazy night for drinking and partying, Uber’s Surge Pricing was bound to make an appearance.

Beware of Uber Surge Pricing on Halloween

uber surge pricing

While I’m not at all a frequent Uber user, I’ve heard about their Surge Pricing from many people and even wrote about a $94 2-mile cab ride in NYC during a snow storm last year.

For those of you not sure about Uber surge pricing, here is a quote from my post last year:

According to GothamistSurge pricing goes into effect when demand for a car reaches exceptional levels, with examples including Halloween, New Year’s Eve, and yes, Icy Wet Snow Day From Super Hell. The idea is that prices are raised in real time in accordance with “supply health,” rising and, eventually, falling as cars become available.

With New Years Eve coming tonight Uber sent out an e-mail to give some quick pro tips for getting around with Uber. The main purpose of the message is to inform everybody that Surge Pricing will be in effect during certain hours of the evening.
