NYC L Train Shutdown, UberPool To The Rescue

uberpool

When it comes to fun promotions and capitalizing or helping out with bad situations, Uber seems to know how to make it work for them.

Uber first caught my eye due to wacky promos like delivering kittens to snuggle for 15 minutes, christmas trees on demand and air conditioners in NYC.

They’ve also received a lot of attention due to their surge pricing model. While many are against this technique, loyal riders like it since it creates more opportunities to get a car during busier times…

With the New York City MTA shutting down L train service for the next five weekends, Uber is trying to help out a bit. Continue reading NYC L Train Shutdown, UberPool To The Rescue

Get a Free 2016 Zagat Guide

restaurant reviews

Before everyone had the internet at their fingertips at (just about) any given time due to smartphones, many people turned to guides like Zagat to read reviews about restaurants.

While Zagat has gone online and isn’t just a physical guide, my guess would be that more people turn to sites like Yelp for restaurant reviews and suggestions.

Zagat reviews are done in an annual survey which is how the restaurants get their scores. If you’d like to help out in reviewing restaurants in the survey, Zagat will give you a small reward. Continue reading Get a Free 2016 Zagat Guide

10,000 Bonus IHG Points Per 2 Night Stay in NYC

ihg rewards club pointsIHG is offering a nice bonus for spending a 2 night stay in New York City.

The offer started back in September but I must’ve overlooked it since we never stay in the city.

Isn’t it ironic that I’m writing this post from the Intercontinental Times Square! (We’re staying here since we had to use Kim’s Chase IHG Anniversary Free Night before it expires.) Continue reading 10,000 Bonus IHG Points Per 2 Night Stay in NYC

Woman Passes Out, Taken On $293 Uber Ride

Uber complaints

It seems to me like just about every Uber makes the news, it’s with a negative twist…

Many of us have heard about the Uber horror stories like $94 for a 2 Mile Ride and the twenty-minute ride which cost $362. Well here is another awful Uber story where another passenger may have been taken for a ride which really cost her… Continue reading Woman Passes Out, Taken On $293 Uber Ride

Certified Pizza Awesomeness: Slice Out Hunger 2014

a white banner with black text

A few days back, Kim, Lucas and I headed into Manhattan for Slice Out Hunger. The event is known as NYC’s biggest pizza party. All of the money raised gets donated to an amazing charity, the Food Bank For New York City.

50 pizzerias from NYC (and a handful in NJ) donated pies with each slice selling for $1. Along with slices there were also beverages, snacks, ice pops and raffle tickets for sale. Every dollar spent gets matched by event sponsors. According to the event guidelines, every $1 ticket bought helps deliver 15 meals to New Yorker’s in need. Impressive stuff! Slice Out Hunger-NYC: 10/8- $1 Pizza For A Cause

a black text on a white background

Pizza is one of the most perfect and favorite foods for me. I’m lucky to have been born in Brooklyn, NY- home to some of the greatest pizzerias around.

As a city, NY has so many great places to eat pizza that you could definitely try out new ones all of the time without needing to go back to the same place. However, we all still have our favorites which are well worth returning to!

Last year I attending an amazing charity event called Slice Out Hunger. (Check out my post about it here.) The event is organized by pizza expert Scott Wiener who runs Scott’s Pizza Tours in NYC. I took the tour last year and had an amazing time. I’d recommend it for any pizza lover visiting the city in the future! Continue reading Slice Out Hunger-NYC: 10/8- $1 Pizza For A Cause
