Slice Out Hunger-NYC: 10/8- $1 Pizza For A Cause

Pizza is one of the most perfect and favorite foods for me. I’m lucky to have been born in Brooklyn, NY- home to some of the greatest pizzerias around.

As a city, NY has so many great places to eat pizza that you could definitely try out new ones all of the time without needing to go back to the same place. However, we all still have our favorites which are well worth returning to!

Last year I attending an amazing charity event called Slice Out Hunger. (Check out my post about it here.) The event is organized by pizza expert Scott Wiener who runs Scott’s Pizza Tours in NYC. I took the tour last year and had an amazing time. I’d recommend it for any pizza lover visiting the city in the future!

Along with running pizza tours, Scott also has the World’s Largest Pizza Box Collection and has even written a book about pizza boxes. (I consider Scott a friend and have contributed a couple of boxes to his collection. I even brought one back for him from Japan!)

Now back to Slice Out Hunger:

Slice Out Hunger is NYC’s biggest pizza party for a great cause.

Every dollar spent will be matched by the sponsors and will go to the Food Bank for NYC. Each $1 raised will make 5 meals for those that can not afford food.

Another great part of the event is that every item for sale is just $1. We’re talking about slices of pizza from some of the greatest places around the city along with drinks, snacks and raffle tickets.

Here is how it works:

  1. Show up
  2. Buy your $1 tickets once you get inside
  3. Exchange your tickets for pizza, drinks, snacks and raffle tickets etc…

Where will the event take place?

  • Slice Out Hunger takes place on October 8 in the Lower Hall of St Anthony’s Church- 154 Sullivan Street at Houston.

Doors open at 6:00PM and goes until the pizza runs out.

Based on our experience last year, I’d highly recommend going early. A line will form around the block!
