2 Drunken Women Force Plane To Turnaround

a logo with blue and yellow letters

I came across a crazy story from the AP about a flight taking off from Toronto’s Pearson Airport bound for Cuba having to return to Toronto with a military jet escort.

Your initial thoughts would probably be a terrorist threat or something to that degree but the incident took place for a very different reason. Continue reading 2 Drunken Women Force Plane To Turnaround

Top Fall Trips For Foodies

Fodor's

I think most of you would agree that food plays a very big part when it comes to travel.

I’ve never taken a local cooking course or went on a trip with the main reason being the food. (I have had a few trips inspired by beer in the past though!) However, Kim and I have gone on our own mini-food tours during trips in the past.

Here are a few that come to mind:

  • Trying lobster rolls (and whoopie pies) in Maine
  • Eating lots of pizza around Rome
  • Trying some of New Haven’s great apizza
  • Sampling some great cheesesteaks in Philadelphia
  • A never-ending quest to try out the best pizza and burgers around Brooklyn and NYC for that matter.

Back to The Balkans- Day 1: 20 Hours in Berlin

Trip Planning: Back to The Balkans

To start off our trip Back to The Balkans we had a layover of 20+ hours in Berlin. Besides spending the night at a hotel close to the airport, we also had around a half-day to wander around the city.

We had a really nice time during our visit to Berlin last September (including seeing some Amazing Art at the Berlin Wall) so we didn’t mind the time in the city.

We didn’t really arrive with much of a plan besides heading over to one museum that we missed back in September. We decided to head over to the area around Checkpoint Charlie and figure it out from there.

Here is how we spent our time: Continue reading Back to The Balkans- Day 1: 20 Hours in Berlin

Amazing Bars & Restaurants Underwater Around the World

While I really enjoy snorkeling I haven’t really done any underwater exploration. I used to have an interest in scuba diving but really have no interest anymore.

Years back Kim and I took scuba lessons in anticipation of visiting the Great Barrier Reef during our honeymoon to Australia. Unfortunately, I have a bit of a problem when it comes to open water- I usually get a very bad case of seasickness. I’d say that within 15 minutes of our boat leaving for the GBR, I was upchucking that morning’s breakfast! This made for a torturous day stuck on the boat. I got in the water and tried to descend one time but when I went to clear my mask, one of the instructors yanked down on me, causing me to push him off and head back for the surface. This was the end of my scuba diving career before it even got started. Continue reading Amazing Bars & Restaurants Underwater Around the World

Plane Hits Truck While Landing On Highway

I don’t know what’s going on these days but pilots of personal aircrafts seem to like landing them on highways. Luckily in this most recent incident, nobody was seriously injured.

Last week I wrote about a man landing a plane on the Sunrise Highway in Long Island, NY two times in a period of 8 days. At the beginning of 2014 I wrote about a plane making an emergency landing on the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx,  NY. Continue reading Plane Hits Truck While Landing On Highway

World’s Coolest Tram Rides

a cable car in the air
Table Mountain Cableway, South Africa

If you happen to be afraid of heights then this post is probably not for you!

When visiting a new place, Kim and I love when we can take a cable car (aerial tram) up to a site. It can be very interesting seeing a place from way up high and can make for a totally different perspective. (It can also sure beat walking!) Continue reading World’s Coolest Tram Rides

See What The TSA Found Now!

a green and blue signThe TSA is hard at work trying to make sure that our airports are safe. They like to share some of the interesting and illegal things that get discovered each week on their blog.

I’m always fascinated by the crazy things people try to sneak past the TSA in their carry-ons. I’d assume that sometimes it is an honest mistake but most times it is probably not. Continue reading See What The TSA Found Now!

Unoffical Comfort Foods of Every State

a map of the united states of america with food icons

When I think of the term comfort foods, unhealthy is the first thing that comes to mind.

According to Merriam Webster, comfort food is “food prepared in a traditional style having a usually nostalgic or sentimental appeal.”

I wanted a better definition of the term so I turned to Urban Dictionary which says that comfort food is “defined as food that gives emotional comfort to the one eating it, these tend to be favorite foods of childhood, or linked to a person, place or time with which the food has a positive association.”

I’d tend to agree more with Urban Dictionary than Merriam Webster. Continue reading Unoffical Comfort Foods of Every State
