Most Annoying Traveler Poll: The Results

a woman standing in front of a leaning towerA couple of weeks back I wrote a post based on a Thrillist article about the 15 Most Annoying Travelers In The World. In the post I shared what I felt were two of the most annoying kinds of travelers.

After thinking a bit more about the topic and receiving a bunch of comments, I decided to run a poll. I was curious to find out what you felt were the most annoying travelers.

In the poll I included my top two choices as well as some from the Thrillist article and reader suggestions as options to choose from.

My poll ended last night and I wanted to share the results.

Some Interesting Google Maps App Updates

Considering how bad my sense of direction can be, I used to get lots of use out of my Garmin GPS. However, I haven’t had much need to turn it on over the past few years. Besides using it during our Quick Euro-Roadtrip (back in February), I can’t remember the last time that I’ve actually powered my Garmin on!

If you put aside the slow response from the touch screen and long waits for finding satellites, my Garmin works just fine.

The thing is, I found a much easier and more convenient GPS- the Google Maps app on my iPhone. (The Google Maps app is also available for Android.)

Last week I shared what I felt were two of the most annoying kinds of travelers that I usually come across during our trips- Seat Pullers and Tour Group Participants. The topic came up due to a Thrillist article- 15 Most Annoying Travelers In The World.

I found Thrillists’ list to be pretty weak but I did agree with a few of their choices.

Check out my post about the topic here.

A few readers shared their thoughts on this topic.

A couple of months back I was lucky enough to get a chance to do an interview Lee Abbamonte, the youngest American to visit every country in the world. Talk about an an amazing achievement!

Now imagine visiting every country in the world without stepping foot on a plane?

That’s exactly what Graham Hughes of Britain did Continue reading Man Visits Every Country Without Flying

World’s Most Exotic Rental Cars

I wouldn’t conisder myself a car guy and am not one to go out for a joyride to pass the time. When traveling, I much prefer to use public transportation to get around rather than rent a car. However, for some trips there aren’t many options. If you want to see lots of places in a short amount of time (like on one of our recent trips), sometimes renting a car is your best option.

When it comes to renting a car, I just about always go with the cheapest car I can find. But with Lucas (and his car seat) to consider, sometimes that strategy doesn’t exactly work anymore.

Travel + Leisure came up with a fun slide show for all of you car lovers out there.

The topicWorld’s Most Exotic Rentals.

7 Of The World’s Best Replicas

For me, usually fake = not good. But when it comes to tourist attractions fake can also mean fun, interesting, odd…

Lonely Planet’s editors had the chance to share some imitations of famous sites from around the world.

When thinking of this topic a few sites come to mind. The first is a couple of artificial sites in Las Vegas- the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel and the Canals of Venice at The Venetian. The other site is in Cambodia, imitating a famous temple nearby. (A little more on that later.)

Lonely Planet came up with a list of Amazing fakes: Seven of the world’s most intriguing replicas.

Quiz: How Well Do You Know U.S. Geography

Many of you may have noticed that I’m a sucker for Buzzfeed (and other) travel-related quizzes.

Most of these quizzes are silly and don’t even ask legitimate travel questions but they are fun to take part in regardless.

There are many kinds of annoying travelers that you might cross paths with all around the world. For me the worst kind, are the overly loud, obnoxious know-it-alls. These kind of people tend to annoy me in all walks of life, not just travel.

When traveling, there are many situations where you can pretty much expect to find irratating people. Don’t get me wrong, we have met lots of interesting and nice people around the world. But there are types of annoying travelers that you are pretty much guaranteed to run into on the way to or during a trip.

Two of the most annoying to me are:
