Beer Lovers Might Want To Pass On Visiting Cuba

Beer Lovers

Kim, Lucas and I ended 2015 with a trip to Cuba, a destination I’ve long wanted to visit.

We had a really good time during our visit and the island did live up to expectations. However, the food was pretty disappointing. The beverages were a bit better with their soda TuKola being quite tasty and refreshing and their beers Cristal and Bucanero being enjoyable enough when drank ice-cold. A Couple of New Travel Channel Shows Announced!

Travel Channel Shows

While we love to travel, the Michael W Travels family also enjoys watching travel- related shows on TV.

Some of the best travel shows have to do with food. Some of my favorites have been Andrew Zimmer’s Bizarre Foods, various Anthony Bourdain shows, Man vs Food and more.

It was recently announced that two favorites will have new Travel Channel shows coming out this summer! Continue reading A Couple of New Travel Channel Shows Announced!

Update: More Camel Products

Al Nassma

A while back I wondered if any of you have tried camel food products?

Some things I came across during our trip to the Mid- East Gulf States were various flavors of camel milk, camel tenderloin and camel burgers. I kind of regret not having had the chance to try any of these items.

After I wrote the post, I remembered that there was one important item that we came across on a bunch of occasions (especially in airports) that I left out. Continue reading Update: More Camel Products

Fuku Chicken Coming to Citi Field! Let’s Go Mets!

Fuku Chicken

Just a few days back I wrote about the New York MetsĀ getting a new pizza option from Danny Meyer.

I already feel that Citi Field has a great selection of food options. Adding pizza from Danny Meyer is a nice addition that I’m looking forward to trying out. Now there is news of another big (food) name coming to the stadium! Continue reading Fuku Chicken Coming to Citi Field! Let’s Go Mets!

In recent years food offerings at baseball stadiums have vastly improved.

Check out a post where MLB baseball stadiums are ranked by food. If you love baseball and food, then you’ll definitely want to read this book!

When I think of baseball, I think of grabbing a good burger at a stadium. My favorite team, the New York Mets has one of the top fast- casual burgers available behind the centerfield scoreboard- Shake Shack! Continue reading New York Mets Getting New Pizza Option from Danny Meyer

Is This The Best Burger in Cuba?

hotel nacional

During our trip to Cuba we had to stop by the historic Hotel Nacional in Havana to check it out. While visiting the hotel, I mentioned how it felt like we were at a museum in some ways.

Free tours are offered at the property and if timing was on our side, I would’ve loved to have taken one of these tours of the hotel.

I’ve read (and heard from Anthony Bourdain) that the food in Cuba is much better than it used to be. The main reason for this is that many more private restaurants have opened in recent years. The types of food to being cooked is supposed to be creative and diverse. Continue reading Is This The Best Burger in Cuba?

I’ve written many times about how I love to visit (and try out local menu items at) McDonald’s during our travels.

Kim sent me a story from Grub Street which made me scream out a big WHAT when I read that someone paid $96,000 for a bottle of McDonalds Big Mac Sauce in the UK! Continue reading $96000 for A Bottle of McDonald’s Big Mac Sauce?

A McDonalds Menu Item in Japan I’d LOVE To Try

McDonalds MenuĀ

I’ve written many times in the past about how I love to check out McDonald’s around the world but rarely visit McD’s at home.

I have a few reasons for visiting McD’s when traveling. The main reason is that I love to see what local menu-items might be available in each country. The other reason is that a visit to McD’s for Lucas is like a treat. We don’t really go at home but he loves getting a toy. Also they usually have free Wifi which comes in handy when abroad. (Surprisingly, the McD’s locations we visited around Japan did not have Wifi.)

Here are some countries that I’ve visited McDonald’s and wrote about: Continue reading A McDonalds Menu Item in Japan I’d LOVE To Try

Uber’s Stand Alone UberEATS App Coming to 10 Cities

UberEATS

In April 2015 Uber started offering UberEATS, a food delivery service in New York City.

With the service, you could have lunch delivered from a few select restaurants each day. A small menu with one item per restaurant is available and the menu changes daily.

While I haven’t had the chance to try out UberEATS, Uber does seem to offer food from some very good restaurants.

Soon Uber will be changing and expanding how UberEATS works. Continue reading Uber’s Stand Alone UberEATS App Coming to 10 Cities
