Is This The Worst Airbnb

What's Up With the New Airbnb Logo?I’m sure that at one time or another we’ve all had a stay  at a place that would be best described as a dud.

Kim and I try to keep our lodging budget to a minimum but love to mix in stays in nicer places with our points. This can make for some interesting stays- one day a beautiful room with a great shower while two days later the room can be let’s just say not so great…

This brings me to Airbnb. When looking for a place to stay it might not be our first choice but makes for a good option when budget hotels don’t seem worth it.

During our limited times using Airbnb we’ve left (pretty much) satisfied after each stay.

Kim came across an article on Gawker about Airbnb which I find almost impossible to believe. Continue reading Is This The Worst Airbnb

Support Airbnb In NYC

a close up of a logo

Airbnb is looking to drum up some more support in New York City.

Last year I wrote a couple of posts about Airbnb fighting NYC for the right to operate in the city. (Airbnb Wins NYC Appeal- Resident Must Be Home and Help Save Airbnb In NY.)

I find Airbnb to be a really awesome and innovative travel company. Over the past few years, Kim, Lucas and I have stayed in Airbnb properties a bunch of times. Airbnb to me is like thinking out of the box when it comes to traditional lodging options. When we can’t find a hotel or hostel that fits our needs we’ll usually then turn to Airbnb. Earlier in the month I decided to dust off my Chase British Airways card and place a small amount of spend on it.

Now when I say small I really mean it. Continue reading Free Parking + Free Mile From Chase?

The Most Exclusive Credit Card

A few days back Kim sent me an article about one of the most exclusive cards. It’s only available in NYC and I can’t say that I’d heard about it until now.

The Magnises Card was founded by Billy McFarland, a 22-year-old college dropout.

McFarland had his first startup at 13 and launched a content-sharing site after dropping out of Bucknell during his freshmen year, making this card his third venture. Continue reading The Most Exclusive Credit Card

Margot’s Pizza: An Awesome Pizzeria Within A Pizzeria, Bklyn, NY

The Love Supreme

It’s no secret that I love (possibly obsess over) pizza.

Being that I live in Brooklyn, NY there is no shortage of great pizzerias close by. Within a 15 minutes drive of where we live, Kim and I can visit 3 great places- the original Totonno’s, L & B Spumoni Gardens and what’s considered to be one of the best in the country- DiFara.

Over the years pizza has been a part of our travels and I’ve written a few pizza-related posts.

All areas of interest seem to have their experts. When it comes to pizza, especially around the NYC area, two people come to mind- Scott Wiener of Scott’s Pizza Tours and Adam Kuban, the founder of pizza blog Slice. Continue reading Margot’s Pizza: An Awesome Pizzeria Within A Pizzeria, Bklyn, NY

Earn 10,000 Bonus IHG Points: Stay At Crowne Plaza Times Square

a man standing on a street

Being a native New Yorker (Brooklyn to be exact), I try to avoid Times Square at all costs. It’s pretty much impossible to walk a block without getting into a traffic jam of people constantly stopping short to take a photo, listen to a street musician or look up at something on a building.

However, if I wasn’t from NY I could kind of see the appeal of visiting the area- at least for a day. (Broadway show, bright lights, a really cool Toys R’ Us etc.)

I Won A Free Flight At JFK Runway Run & I’m Not Excited

Screen Shot 2013-12-10 at 11.21.41 PMBack in January I wrote about registration being open for the 2014 JFK Runway Run.

I had planned to write another post about it as a reminder but it slipped my mind and the race has passed- it was this past Sunday.

Runway runs are probably my favorite kind of races to participate in. They are a unique kind of race and offer access and views  at the airport that are usually not possible.

The JFK Runway Run has become an annual race for me, running in it the past 3 years now!

Should You Move To NYC? Take the Quiz

a city skyline with a crescent moonI was born and have lived in Brooklyn, NY my whole life. When asked where I am from, I don’t usually answer New York. Even though Brooklyn is part of NYC, most of us native Brooklynites are happy to identify more with being from our borough than the bigger city.

I came across a Buzzfeed quiz with 11 multiple choice questions which will answer the question: Should You Move To NYC?
