A Visit to the Magnum Ice Cream Bar NYC

Magnum Ice Cream Bar

I recently wrote about how you could design your own Magnum ice cream bar at a NYC pop-up.

While designing your own ice cream bar isn’t cheap ($7 for one bar), I still felt it would be a fun thing to do in NYC, especially for a 4.5 year old!

Kim, Lucas and I had to run a few errands in the city so we decided to pay the Magnum Ice Cream Bar pop-up a visit! Continue reading A Visit to the Magnum Ice Cream Bar NYC

Design Your Own Magnum Ice Cream Bar at NYC Pop-Up

Magnum Ice Cream bar

I’m always looking for fun things to do close to home and just came across something that’s been going on for a few months now.

In NYC, there are lots of fun and interesting food experiences out there. We have a bunch of excellent food halls, markets and you can dine on just about any kind of cuisine. Some of these options can even be a bit odd and/ or unique… (Kellogg’s recently opened a cereal restaurant in Times Square.)

I’ve enjoyed a Magnum Ice Cream bar many times during our travels but haven’t really seen them for sale at home. Continue reading Design Your Own Magnum Ice Cream Bar at NYC Pop-Up

Kellogg’s Cereal Restaurant Opening in NYC

Times Square is an area in NYC that I try my best to avoid.

With an abundance of bright lights and costume characters, there’s also no shortage of mega-stores like M&Ms World, Hershey’s Chocolate World, Disney Store, a giant Toys R Us with a ferris wheel inside.

Food options aren’t great in the area and I’d recommend trying the amazing onion soup burger at Le Rivage which is a short walk away.

If you’re a fan of breakfast, specifically cereal and you’ll be near Times Square you’ll soon have an interesting place to dine. Continue reading Kellogg’s Cereal Restaurant Opening in NYC

Stay In A Bargain Airbnb in NYC for $39 Per Night!

Kim, Lucas and I have enjoyed staying at some Airbnb properties over the years. Our first time using the service was back in 2012 when Lucas was around 7.5 months old. (Check out my review of the stay here.)

What I also like about Airbnb are all of the different kinds of places you can stay! There are many unique Airbnb options, like igloos and tents. You can also spend a night in celebrity homes, castles, yurts or pubs.

Earlier in the year I thought that Kim may have come across the most artsy and unique Airbnb property. Continue reading Stay In A Bargain Airbnb in NYC for $39 Per Night!

Filipino Chain Jollibee Coming To NYC

Jollibee

Last week I wrote about Jollibee, a fun food recommendation from Anthony Bourdain.

Jollibee is a Filipino fast food chain which some might consider the McDonald’s of the Philippines. While there are over 30 locations in the US, most are located on the West Coast (primarily in California).

The Michael W Travels family lives in Brooklyn, NY so we visited the Jollibee located in Queens. However, our options to dine at the chain will soon be increasing! Continue reading Filipino Chain Jollibee Coming To NYC

Last year an Uber driver got harassed by an NYPD detective after he let the cop know that he wasn’t using his signal when parking.

The incident was captured on video by the passenger in the back of the Uber. The video got over 4.5 million views on YouTube. It also has led to the driver Humayun Chaudry feeling “humiliated“, according to Gothamist. Continue reading Uber Driver Suing NYPD Detective For Harassment

Yet Another Delay to the NYC Anthony Boudain Market

anthony bourdain

One of the most anticipated food projects coming to NYC has to be the upcoming Anthony Bourdain Market.

The market will be an international food hall featuring vendors from around the world serving up a wide variety of cuisines.

Initially the market was supposed to open in 2015. Then it was announced that it would open in 2017. Continue reading Yet Another Delay to the NYC Anthony Boudain Market

Jollibee, A Fun Food Rec from Anthony Bourdain

Anthony BourdainOver the years I’ve tried many restaurants based on recommendations from food and travel TV shows. Restaurants discovered this way can definitely be hit or miss.

A month or so back I was watching Anthony Bourdain’s Manila episode of his show, Parts Unknown which airs on CNN.

Lots of interesting food was eaten during the episode but I have to admit that I was most interested in trying out a Filipino fast food restaurant that I had heard about a few years back.

Jollibee is a popular fast food chain located in various countries around the world and they just happen to have a location close to home! Continue reading Jollibee, A Fun Food Rec from Anthony Bourdain

The Amazing French Onion Soup Burger at Le Rivage NYC

Le Rivage NYC

Kim and I recently went to see Cirque du Soleil’s Paramour on Broadway.

With the show starting at 7:30 PM and lasting for around two hours, we needed to find a place to go for dinner close by (before the show).

Since I try to avoid the Times Square area as much as possible, I wasn’t really sure where we should dine. But then I remembered a place that I had read about a while back which served a burger that won the New York City Wine & Food Festival’s Burger Bash in 2013.

That made our decision easy. Kim and I headed to a pre-theater dinner at Le Rivage NYC. Continue reading The Amazing French Onion Soup Burger at Le Rivage NYC
