Can You Identify Places From Above? Take the Quiz

a large city with many tall buildings

At the end of March I wrote about an article that Kim sent me which had Amazing Aerial Views From Around the World.  I found the views to be really impressive and I really was amazed by many of them.

Back on the subject of aerial views- Buzzfeed had a new quiz a few days ago. The topic, Can You Recognize These Places From Above?

I took the quiz and found some of the places really easy to identify while others I wasn’t too sure of. However, with some educated guessing I did pretty well.

21 Most Awesome Hotel Views On Earth

a collage of a hotel roomWhen it comes to our accommodations we’re usually not too picky. We’ve stayed in all kinds of rooms from fancy hotels, to simple guest houses, motels, airbnb and our usual favorite- hostels.

My main goal, when picking where to stay is to not waste too much money but still find a place in a convenient location (with decent wifi). For us, a hotel is just a place to catch some sleep and take a shower (and write a blog post). The hotel experience is not the focus of our trip and we usually spend very little time in the room. This philosophy did change a bit once we had Lucas. Some simple things we now appreciate include a decent amount of space to move around, a bathtub (Lucas hates showers) and a refrigerator.

Can You Identify US States By Their Outline? Take the Quiz

a screenshot of a map

I feel that I have a decent sense of geography but I’m certainly no expert. With the internet at our fingertips, it’s so easy to pull up a map when needed.

Just about any time that I book a flight or am in the process of planning a trip, I’ll pull up a map to see what’s close by. Add in a little research with Google Maps and you might find yourself a little side-trip or a completely different itinerary.

Buzzfeed posted a fun quiz last month. The topic was something that I didn’t expect to do well with- Can You Identify The U.S. States By Their Outlines?

15 Bizarre Festivals Only Found In the U.S.

a blue background with white text

Back in December I wrote about 14 Festivals To Attend Before You Die from Fodor’s.

We finally got to attend one of the festivals that made the list (in September), Oktoberfest. We had an amazing time, drank a ton of beer and would definitely love to go again at some point. Fodor’s list included festivals from all around the world including the odd La Tomatina in Spain.

I love visiting strange sites and attractions and enjoyed learning about the weirdest things about each state recently.

A couple of days back I came across a list of fun festivals from Buzzfeed. After looking over the list of 15 Bizarre Festivals Only Found In the U.S., I wasn’t too surprised that I had only heard of a couple of them.

As many of you may know, I love finding a great deal. Getting free stuff is even better.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some things that I am happy to spend money on- especially  when it comes to Lucas it can be hard to say no.

I was happy to come across an interesting and potentially useful article from Buzzfeed which shares 17 Surprisingly Cool Things Kids Can Get For Free.

I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Australia. Kim and I went there on our honeymoon and had an amazing time visiting a good amount of the country. While we feel like we saw lots of great sites in a variety of areas, there is just so much that we didn’t get to check out.

Just to name a few- I’d love to visit Tasmania, Brisbane, Kangaroo Island, Fraser Island and more of the Outback.

Hopefully one of these years we’ll make it back OR maybe we should move there?

Should You Move To NYC? Take the Quiz

a city skyline with a crescent moonI was born and have lived in Brooklyn, NY my whole life. When asked where I am from, I don’t usually answer New York. Even though Brooklyn is part of NYC, most of us native Brooklynites are happy to identify more with being from our borough than the bigger city.

I came across a Buzzfeed quiz with 11 multiple choice questions which will answer the question: Should You Move To NYC?

I just came across another fun Buzzfeed quiz. This time the quiz will let us know:

  • Which European Country Do You Actually Belong In?

While this quiz is geared towards Europeans, I still decided to answer the questions.

Keeping Track of Countries In A Permanent Way

Screen Shot 2014-02-16 at 7.19.48 PMI use a few sites to track the countries that I’ve visited but none are as permanent as this. A couple of favorites sites that I use are TravBuddy and MostTraveledPeople.

TravBuddy is great because it makes a really cool personalized travel map which also tells you the percentage of the world that you’ve visited. (Check out my map at the bottom of my site .) MostTraveledPeople is really useful because it breaks things down even more. It also tracks states/ regions and disputed territories as well as also offering a UNESCO World Heritage Site tracker and some other useful tools.
