There were two encounters that really stood out. Sadly, the Jaguar Experience was sold out but we were able to take part in the Tapir Encounter! Continue reading Our Awesome Tapir Encounter At The Belize Zoo!
Hurricane Harvey created a big need for shelter space for animals in the Houston area.
The Huffington Post reported that space was “needed for pets whose owners have been displaced by Hurricane Harvey“.
To create space in the shelters, a little help was provided by Southwest Airlines in partnership with the Helen Woodward Center. You’re probably wondering how an airline could help? Continue reading Southwest Airlines Flew Cabin Full of Shelter Animals From Houston
During our visit to Costa Rica, Kim and I had a huge decision to make.
Since we had a limited amount of time in the country, we agreed it would be best to base ourselves in one area during our visit. We’d also spend a day seeing the capital, San Jose.
We narrowed our choices down to two options- Manuel Antonio National Park or Arenal Volcano. Both areas had their benefits but in the end we made a great decision. Continue reading The Animals of Manuel Antonio National Park in Costa Rica
Sometimes you just gotta go…
Back in February a flight was diverted when a man urinated on another passenger. Most recently, a drunk man peed on the floor during an American Airlines flight.
Did you know that Lonely Planet has a toilet guide?
Now dogs will be getting their turn at the airport. Continue reading JFK Airport Opens Pet Relief Area

I came across an interesting tweet from BBC Travel about an article from Bloomberg.com.
Ever wonder how many animals die on airlines each year? I can’t say that it’s something that has ever crossed my mind before… However, the Department of Transportation keeps track/ records of these occurrences and shared their findings in its February Consumer Air Travel Report. A couple of weeks back I heard about the poaching of the world’s largest elephant in Kenya and it angered me so much.
Now I don’t consider myself one of those activists like in Greenpeace or Sea Shepherd, but I do believe (to some degree) in their causes.
Some of you may know that my family and I are animal lovers and over the years Kim and I have had many amazing animal experiences, mostly during our travels. Even though Kim & I don’t have any pets, we still love animals. Growing up, my family had a dog until I was around 7 or 8 years old. I know that pets can be a lot of work and I can’t say that I’d really want to have that kind of responsibility now.
However, over the years we’ve had many unforgettable animal experiences while traveling around the US and the world.
Over the years Kim and I have had many amazing and memorable animal-related experiences while traveling. A couple of years back I wrote a post about My Top 5 Animal Encounters. We also had a great time during Our First American Safari in Custer State Park in South Dakota. During our time in Custer, we had an interesting time Hanging With the Burros.
Besides the experiences mentioned above, we’ve also been on safaris in Namibia, Kenya & Uganda and also had some other great experiences in South Africa.
In the past I’ve written about some amazing animal experiences that we’ve had over the years.
Kim and I have been on a bunch of African safaris in countries like Kenya, Uganda, Namibia and South Africa but also got to take Our First American Safari a couple of years back. During that same trip to South Dakota we also had a great laugh while Hanging With the Burros (similar to a donkey).
You can also check out a post about My Top 5 Animal Encounters which includes some experiences from around the world.
National Geographic came up with an interesting article related to free animal viewing.
