Uber Adjusts Fare, Refunds Me $24

a logo of a companyA couple of weeks back I finally got to try out Uber while in Atlanta. After the ride, I couldn’t figure out what the big deal was and asked if anyone could explain.

During our Uber ride, we were given an estimate of $28-$36 to take us from the Delta Flight Museum to Turner Field. Since I had a $35 Uber credit this seemed like a great time to use it. After a bit of traffic, it turned out that our fare came to $55.

A short while after the ride ended, a short survey came up in the Uber app. It asked to rate the driver from 1-5 and leave comments about the ride (or something to that extent).

Most Glorious Things To Ever Happen In An Airport

a large sculpture in a building

An airport isn’t the kind of place where you’d  go for a good laugh, to get easily amused or have amazing things happen. However, at times these kinds of things can happen at the airport.

The funniest things I’ve seen at the airport, was at the check-in counter.

The guy next to me was trying to check his 50 lb dumbells. Weird item, kind of interesting but what’s so funny? Southwest wanted to charge the man additional fees even though they allow 2 pieces of checked luggage for free, weighing up to 50lbs each. However, Southwest’s scale had said that the dumbbells each weighed 52 lbs. Due to this, the airline wanted to charge him a $50 fee.

More recently, I saw a girl placing an odd item into her carry-on while checking some luggage for a flight.

TSA Finds Sharp Throwing Star At Dallas-Love Field

a close up of words

A little over a week back I wrote about a dangerous items that the TSA found at the airport in Boston.

The TSA found another interesting item at the airport. The item was once again shared by the @TSABlogTeam on Twitter.

When I read what the item was, it brought back memories from when I was around 10 years old. Continue reading TSA Finds Sharp Throwing Star At Dallas-Love Field

9 Scenic Train Rides Around the World

Like most little boys, Lucas loves trains. He first started saying the word (train) last June during our trip to Japan. We went all over the country, getting great use out of our rail pass and Lucas loved it!

I don’t know what it is about trains and train toys (like Thomas & Chuggington), but just about all boys love them!

Besides our trip to Japan, we haven’t done many trips which included extensive use of the rails. The only other trip for Kim and I that comes to mind would be taking the trip up to Aguas Caliente in Peru to see Macchu Picchu.

Conde Naste Traveler came up with a slideshow featuring Scenic Train Rides Around the World. Continue reading 9 Scenic Train Rides Around the World

Get Comfort & Privacy In Coach With This Ridiculous Product

a person with a grey curtain over their headWhen flying in coach wouldn’t it be nice to have a little privacy?

I came across a new product that just might be able to help. (Thanks Gogo for posting about this on Facebook a couple of days back.)

The B-Tourist is a product made of elastic fabric which offers a passenger their own private space to quietly eat, read a book, watch a movie and to sleep without being disturbed.

Win An Amazing Trip For 4 To Disney

a woman and a child on a slide

Southwest is giving away a trip to one of the Disney parks in the U.S. in a new contest. The winner will get to choose between a trip for 4 to Disneyland in California or Disney World in Florida.

The prize includes airfare, accommodations, Disney park tickets and much more.

I got to visit Disneyland when I was around 10 or 11 but haven’t ever been to Disney World. II’m actually not a fan of theme parks and have little desire to visit Disney again. However,  I do think that my special little guy Lucas would love to see Mickey Mouse in-person so we’ll most likely have to visit some day.
