Hotels.com Reaches Out About Screwed Up Reservation In Barcelona

barcelona

Recently, I shared the details about how Hotels.com totally screwed up our reservation in Barcelona.

A quick summary of what took place

After an overnight flight, the Michael W Travels family showed up early in the morning at our hotel in Barcelona. When we tried to check- in, we were told that we didn’t have a reservation. Continue reading Hotels.com Reaches Out About Screwed Up Reservation In Barcelona

Generator Hostel Barcelona, A Solid Family-Friendly Option!

Generator HostelAfter flying to Barcelona at one of the worst times, we ran into a problem when Hotels.com screwed up our hotel reservation.

When we got to our hotel, they claimed to not have any booking from Hotels.com for us. Due to this they only had a room available for the first night. We had a reservation at Generator Hostel for the last two days of our trip so I figured that we’d just try to book a room there for our first two.

We ended up booking a private room with two bunk beds and an ensuite bathroom. Continue reading Generator Hostel Barcelona, A Solid Family-Friendly Option!

I Got The Dreaded SSSS On My Boarding Pass & It Wasn’t So Bad

SSSSLast week, the Michael W Travels family flew home from Barcelona to NYC with a stop in London.

During our journey, we encountered a flight delay which caused some issues. (Possibly more on that another time…)

When looking over our boarding passes, four letters stood out for my flight from London (LHR) to New York (JFK), SSSS. Continue reading I Got The Dreaded SSSS On My Boarding Pass & It Wasn’t So Bad

Disappointing Priority Pass Lounge: Bobby Van’s Grill- JFK Airport

priority passIn 2017 I wrote a review of what I considered to be the most interesting Priority Pass lounge we ever visited.

The lounge I am referring to was actually a restaurant at London Gatwick Airport. The way a visit worked was that with your membership, you received a £15 credit. Guests of the  card holder also receive this credit off the bill.

When I heard that Bobby Van’s Grill at JFK Airport had become a Priority Pass lounge, I wanted to visit but it just never worked out until our recent flight to Barcelona. Continue reading Disappointing Priority Pass Lounge: Bobby Van’s Grill- JFK Airport

A Visit To The French Version of McD’s, Quick Burger Restaurant

QuickWhen visiting international destinations, I always visit McDonald’s to check out what local menu items might be available.

We also like to try local fast food burger shops. I haven’t written about many of them but  you can check out my review of one in Bahrain here.

During a recent trip to France, we had a long list of places to dine at. One that I hoped to try was the French version of McDonald’s called Quick. Continue reading A Visit To The French Version of McD’s, Quick Burger Restaurant

Last weekend, the Michael W Travels family headed off on our first trip of 2019 (over President’s Week break).

We headed to a destination which was the first city I ever visited in Europe- Barcelona. We also included a visit to Andorra, a first for all of us.

I was happy to find award availability for our flights using American Airlines AAdvantage miles. The only issue was the time of the flight. Continue reading Possibly The Worst Time To Fly To Europe

How Hotels.com Totally Screwed Up Our Reservation In Barcelona

hotels.comOver President’s Week break, the Michael W Travels family headed to Barcelona and Andorra.

Find Out What We Tried At McDonald’s Monaco

McDonaldsOver winter break 2018, the Michael W Travels family visited France and Monaco.

(Find out what we did with 5.5 hours in Monaco, one of the tiniest countries in the world.)

During our visit to Monaco we had lunch at McDonald’s. I had hoped to come across some local menu-items to order but we didn’t have much luck. The menu is virtually the same as at McDonald’s France, just cheaper! Continue reading Find Out What We Tried At McDonald’s Monaco

A Visit To A Bizarre Attraction, The Smallest Plot Of Land In New York City

new york cityA few years back I was skimming over Atlas Obscura looking for interesting and strange things to do in New York City.

During my search, I came across something that I had probably walked past many times, paying no attention to it. (An old friend of mine had lives down the block from the location.)

Just outside the Village Cigars shop in the West Village is the smallest plot of land in NYC! Continue reading A Visit To A Bizarre Attraction, The Smallest Plot Of Land In New York City

It seems like everyday is a National  fill in the blank Day.

While I usually ignore these special days, on Saturday there was one that I couldn’t let pass us by.
