It’s been quite some time since the animals at New York City Zoos and the aquarium have seen visitors due to COVID-19. That’s all going to change in less than two weeks.

On July 24, the Bronx, Central Park, Prospect Park and Queens Zoos will reopen. People will also be able to check out the New York Aquarium in Coney Island, Brooklyn again. Continue reading Zoos and Aquarium In New York City Opening To Visitors On July 24

This Is Not The Geographic Center of New York City!

New York City

Years back, Kim and I visited a spot in Lithuania which is supposedly the Geographic Center of Europe. At the site, there was a visitor center and a fancy marker. You could even get a certificate to prove that you were there!

Over winter break, we set out to find the center of Paris. Find out about our failed attempt at visiting the site.

Yesterday, I was watching local news channel NY1 when an interesting segment came on related to the center of New York City. Continue reading This Is Not The Geographic Center of New York City!

Stumbling Across A Tourist Attraction In New York City

New York CityMy family and I had brunch at The Little Owl in Greenwich Village in New York City over the weekend. I’d been meaning to try their burger for years.

As we got close to the restaurant, we wondered why so many people were taking photos of the building the restaurant called home. People were across the street, in the street and posing in front of the building and we had no idea why!

I know the restaurant is popular but I didn’t think that it was this popular! Continue reading Stumbling Across A Tourist Attraction In New York City

A Visit To A Bizarre Attraction, The Smallest Plot Of Land In New York City

new york cityA few years back I was skimming over Atlas Obscura looking for interesting and strange things to do in New York City.

During my search, I came across something that I had probably walked past many times, paying no attention to it. (An old friend of mine had lives down the block from the location.)

Just outside the Village Cigars shop in the West Village is the smallest plot of land in NYC! Continue reading A Visit To A Bizarre Attraction, The Smallest Plot Of Land In New York City

Spend Halloween in NYC at the American Museum of Natural History

American Museum of Natural History

As a little kid, I always found it exciting to get dressed up and go trick or treating around the neighborhood. I always got a kick out of ringing strangers’ door bells and scoring lots of treats.

In recent years, we’ve taken Lucas trick or treating a couple of times but I can’t say that it was so exciting. Then again, getting dressed up is half the fun. Check out Lucas asĀ my little burger from a few years back during Purim, another holiday where you get dressed up. Last year we all dressed up as skeletons. After Lucas picked out his costume at the store, Kim got crafty and made us ours.

This year I am really excited for Halloween since we’ll be doing something quite different from what we’ve ever done before. Continue reading Spend Halloween in NYC at the American Museum of Natural History

World Trade Center Base Jumpers Sentenced To…

World Trade Center

Back in early 2014 I posted about a Crazy Video: Base Jumping Off 1 World Trade Center.

Months after the jumps took place, the 4 men involved turned themselves in to the police. Since then, I can’t say that I’ve given much thought to the case.

I had no clue what kind of punishment would be handed down until I came across an article from Outside Magazine. Continue reading World Trade Center Base Jumpers Sentenced To…
