Southwest CEO Gary Kelly Loves Halloween

Gary Kelly

What’s the best part of Halloween? Is it getting dressed up or getting to go trick or treating? If we were to run a poll, my guess would be that both options would get their fair share of votes.

Based on a video I came across, I think Southwest’s CEO Gary Kelly would choose dressing up in awesome costumes. Continue reading Southwest CEO Gary Kelly Loves Halloween

Most Unusual US Landmarks

US Landmarks
Grand Canyon Skywalk

After coming across USA Today’s list of America’s Quirkiest Attractions, I felt it would be fun to mention a few of my picks.

Soon after, I saw a slideshow from Fodor’s about a related topic. Fodor’s writes about the 10 Most Unusual US Landmarks which I was definitely curious to check out!

Let’s see what kind of landmarks made the cut. Continue reading Most Unusual US Landmarks

Lonely Planet Best In Travel 2016

Lonely Planet Best In Travel

Lonely Planet, one of my go to sources for travel destination guides, also puts out a variety of more general pictorial guides. These make great coffee table books and gifts.

Over the summer I wrote about a Lonely Plant book (which came out October 6) which picks the top sites in the world. In Ultimate Travel, LP picked and ranked the top 500 sites.

I just received an e-mail that Lonely Planet Best in Travel 2016 has just been released!

Quirkiest American Attractions

The Mutter Museum

When traveling, I always look to find some things that might be considered odd, quirky and possibly even off the beaten path.

These kind of attractions could be found as a roadside statue, an interesting/ odd museum or in many other ways.

I thought of this topic due to a slideshow that I recently came across from USA Today Travel.  Continue reading Quirkiest American Attractions

New Passport, Have Global Entry? You Need To Do This

Global Entry

Back in June, Kim and Lucas had their Global Entry interviews. We got lucky and didn’t have to wait long, getting in and out of the airport in less than a half hour.

Since then, we’ve saved some time due to all of us having GE, although the first time we used it, we found it impossible to get Lucas’ fingerprints to scan…

With Lucas now having been to 28 countries, his passport is getting pretty full. After our next trip in mid- November (maybe before), it will be time to get him a new passport. Continue reading New Passport, Have Global Entry? You Need To Do This

Rehash

This is the final night to enter my giveaway to win 1 of 3 free Gogo passes. Find out the details in the post, Free Gogo from US Bank for me= Free Gogo for you.

I’ve been looking into some travel options for winter break but haven’t found or decided on anything as of yet. I did book a flight with Avios for mid- November which should be a fun little getaway.

A couple of weeks back I mentioned that I applied for a credit card that I found out about from Rene’s Points. I just found out that I am conditionally approved but need to send in even more info. This has been a ridiculous application process but the bonus still makes it worth going for! Hopefully I get approved and the card arrives soon. Can That Item Go In My Carry On? Use This To Find Out

Carry On

Have you ever been unsure of what can be brought along on a flight in your carry on? It can be tricky when it comes to certain items.

I think we all know weapons, large bottles of liquids and most sharp items won’t be allowed through security. But what about items like razors (no I don’t mean boxcutters), crochet needles, toy guns

Did you know that the TSA has a feature online that could answer the question of what can be brought on flights? Continue reading Can That Item Go In My Carry On? Use This To Find Out

AAA’s Popular Destinations, Guidebooks, AAdvantage eShopping Offer, Flight Diverted By Credit Cards, NY Licenses for Domestic Flights & More- The Rehash!

Rehash

There hasn’t been much doing for us over the past week when it comes to miles & points. However, we did have a fun weekend playing tourist in NYC thanks to Open House New York.

We spent most of the day on Saturday checking out some interesting sites around Queens and then visited a fun museum in Brooklyn on Sunday.

Currently I dont have any flights booked for any future trips. Lucas keeps on asking where our next trip is! I really need to change this and start getting some things planned!  Continue reading AAA’s Popular Destinations, Guidebooks, AAdvantage eShopping Offer, Flight Diverted By Credit Cards, NY Licenses for Domestic Flights & More- The Rehash!

Travel Guidebooks- Useful or Useless?

GuidebooksDo you still bring guidebooks on trips with you?

For just about all of our international trips, Kim and I find a guidebook to be a necessary travel item.

Here is how I see it. Trips are an investment, whether it be paid for with our hard-earned money or miles & points. Being (somewhat) prepared and having ideas of what you’d like to see and do makes a lot of sense, especially if you’re away for a limited amount of time. You are paying all this money and or miles & points, why wouldn’t you spend an additional $20 or so to maximize what you see, do and eat… Continue reading Travel Guidebooks- Useful or Useless?

Florida Everglades Airboat Rides Ending

Florida Everglades

Almost two years back, Kim, Lucas and I took an airboat tour in the Florida Everglades while visiting my parents during Thanksgiving Weekend.

Kim and I enjoyed the tour but it definitely wasn’t Lucas’ favorite thing to do. I’d guess it was mainly due to the loud noise caused by the airboats.

According to Frommer’s, “airboats have been a staple of touring the Florida Everglades. New rules, though, are about the silence them once and for all“. Continue reading Florida Everglades Airboat Rides Ending
