Pay For Wifi With Miles on United

United Wifi

Using wifi during flights is a great way to pass the time and even get some work done but it usually comes at a price.

Unless you’re flying Jetblue (possibly some other airlines), you can expect to pay from $5- $16 during a flight unless you have a monthly pass. (Prices are based on what it costs to use Gogo Inflight.)

What if there was another way to pay for inflight wifi rather than cash. Would you consider paying for wifi with miles? Continue reading Pay For Wifi With Miles on United

Cancelled Flight, Marriott Customer Service Impresses

Marriott Customer Service

I’ve recently written about some problems related to our short trip to Toronto, Canada.

The first problem occurred when we were supposed to go on the trip a few weeks back. I was checking my British Airways account when I noticed that our flight to Toronto had been cancelled. This led me to ask British Airways- Where’s My 40,500 Avios + $143.79.

We then got rebooked for the following week. More bad luck soon followed. We had a cancelled flight in biz class and had to fly coach. I then wondered if I was owed compensation. (I certainly feel that we are…) Continue reading Cancelled Flight, Marriott Customer Service Impresses

Cancelled Flight in Biz, Flew Coach. Am I Owed Compensation?

cancelled flight

A couple of days back I wrote about how British Airways owed me 40,500 Avios + $143.79 due to a mistake they made with a recent booking.

Because of a BA error, I ended up with a cancelled flight from New York to Toronto. After a lengthy call, Kim, Lucas and I were booked for the following week in business class.

More bad luck hit us on flight day and our flight was cancelled. Continue reading Cancelled Flight in Biz, Flew Coach. Am I Owed Compensation?

$850 Wine on AA , Frommer’s 2016 Best Places, Uber $10 Off $20, Jetblue Schedule Extended, Checking Pets on Delta, Save at Airport Best Buys & More- The Rehash!

Rehash

Kim, Lucas and I are currently traveling home from what’s been possibly our most frustrating trip ever! What should’ve been a quick hour and five-minute flight to Toronto became a cancelled flight, hours of waiting and another cancelled flight. We then had to fly the following morning which became early afternoon with more delays, giving us just a day and a half at our destination!

I guess weather happens but with just a light drizzle in the NYC area and poor communication with passengers, this led to lots of unhappy tavelers!

I say let it happen now rather than during a longer, more exciting trip. Hopefully we got rid of the bad travel karma for a while! AA Loses Boston Marathon Bombing Victim’s Prosthetic Leg (& Finds It)

It’s been a crazy past couple of days filled with lots of flight delays and flight cancellations. Luckily our one checked bag was spotted by Lucas after our flights were cancelled on Thursday night. You see, our bag was so wet that Kim and I didn’t even recognize it.. But Lucas did!

I came across a story from the Boston Globe about a Boston Marathon bombing survivor having her luggage lost by American Airlines. Inside the luggage were some pricey and very important items.  Continue reading AA Loses Boston Marathon Bombing Victim’s Prosthetic Leg (& Finds It)

Frommer’s Best Places To Go 2016

Best Places To Go

Each year numerous travel sites and publications come out with their places to go list for the upcoming year.

Last month I wrote about AAA’s most popular destinations for international travel list. Recently, Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel came out which has lists on a wide variety of areas.

Now it’s Frommer’s turn to share their picks for best places to go in 2016. Continue reading Frommer’s Best Places To Go 2016

Buy From Airport Best Buy Kiosk At Cheaper Store Prices

While I’ve never bought or considered buying electronics at the airport from a Best Buy vending machine, I’ve given them a look and often wondered “who buys from these things?!”

The Best Buy Express machines charge a premium for the convenience of shopping last-minute at the airport.

What if you could avoid the higher prices. Would you consider shopping at a Best Buy Express then? Continue reading Buy From Airport Best Buy Kiosk At Cheaper Store Prices

Least Visited States in America

When it comes to travel, we tend to focus more on international destinations. However, over the past few years Kim and I have made it a point to try to see more of the USA.

When visiting different states it’s definitely impressive to think of just how much there is to see at home. In 2015 we only had the chance to visit one new state. (Back in March, Kim, Lucas and I had a fun time checking out Charleston, South Carolina.)

To date I’ve been to 32 states and would love to finish visiting all 50 at some point sooner than later. In recent years we spent a little time in places like Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wyoming. Not exactly states that typically come up as popular travel destinations. Continue reading Least Visited States in America

You Can Save Google Maps Directions Offline!

Save Google Maps Directions

When asked to name my favorite travel apps, my list is sure to include TripIt, AwardWallet and Currency. Another app that I will usually mention is one that isn’t just for travel, it’s used by many everyday.

Google Maps is such a useful app that I haven’t turned my regular GPS on in years besides the times I borrowed a map chip to use it around Europe and during our trip to the Middle East Gulf States.

In May of 2014 I wrote about some intereting Google Maps app updates.

I just came across some news of a new feature from the Google Maps app which can benefit us when we don’t have an internet connection. Continue reading You Can Save Google Maps Directions Offline!

A Faster (& Free) Way Through Customs Than Global Entry

Global Entry

While I’ve had Global Entry for a couple of years now, I only started using it around 6 months back. The reason for the delay was that Kim and Lucas didn’t have it…

Since we started using Global Entry, we’ve had issues getting Lucas’ fingerprints to scan, noticed long lines to get a GE kiosk and have also enjoyed quick entry with the service. Basically, we’ve experiences Global Entry for better & worse.

At $100, Global Entry is a reasonable price to pay if you’re a frequent flyer to save some time. Thanks to a variety of credit cards which include the service as a benefit, the Michael W Travels family all have Global Entry. Would I pay for it in the future? I’m really undecided.
