I recently applied for the Jetblue Business Card. I was glad that I wasn’t rejected but I do need to send in more info to see if I’ll be approved. Credit card hurdles…
We’re still working out the details of a few upcoming trips. Otherwise, there isn’t much going on around here when it comes to travel.

The Michael W Travels family is a little over a month away from our next trip which is the first of a busy summer season of travel. We still have some planning to do for that trip and then need to really get working on our longer month- long trip.
I applied for another credit card recently and am still waiting to find out if I was approved. This game really isn’t easy anymore but it’s still a lot of fun! Over the weekend, the Michael W Travels family visited Diggerland USA , a construction theme park for their 2018 Media Day. The park has expanded quite a bit and added lots of new rides since our visit back in 2014. (Check back for a recap of our most recent visit.)
I don’t have much time left to book my IHG Free night. I’ve narrowed down my options and am hoping to book a Kimpton property for a stay in a few weeks from now. After much debate, I finally booked a flight using American Airlines miles for our one month summer trip. Our miles will get us to our first destination, but we may need to use cash to book our flight home. That’s the problem with miles and points- you can’t always get what you want!
Lucas has been wanting to return to Diggerland Construction Theme Park for quite some time. It looks like we’ll be doing a last minute trip there this upcoming weekend thanks to a media invite. We’ll use IHG points to book a night close by rather than having to drive home immediately after. I thought that I had the flights for our summer trip worked out until I ran into a problem. Find out more about what happened below.
While we love to use our airline miles to book flights, sometimes a good deal is hard to pass up. My friend Travis of Extra Pack of Peanuts has a new app out called Jetto which is aggregating these offers. Find out all about it and enter for a chance to win a flight to Dublin. (If you enter the contest using my link, I’ll earn additional entries.)

I’m currently looking into some ideas for our longer summer trip for 2018. I’d love to use some American Airlines miles since Kim and I have a lot of them, but it isn’t easy finding award availability!
The minimum spend for my newest credit card is almost completed. I’m now hoping to find another card worth applying for. (This won’t be easy!)

The Michael W Travels family had an awesome time during our Spring Break trip to Portugal. The hills in Lisbon are no joke and an amazing workout if you walk everywhere like we did.
We were really impressed with Portugal and would’ve liked time to see even more of the country. Someday I hope to return.

The Michael W Travels family is currently traveling around Portugal over Spring Break.
We checked out some of the towns in the Alentejo region over the past few days and have had a great time so far. Earlier in the evening we arrived in Lisbon which were looking forward to exploring.

The Michael W Travels family is heading off on our Spring Break trip on Thursday night. We’re looking forward to exploring another country, new to all of us- Portugal.
While planning the trip, we decided to stick to the mainland and take a pass on visiting the Azores. Kim and I have been wanting to check out the islands for a while now but we decided that it wasn’t worth it for this trip given our time constraints (a little over a week). This week I started using the US Bank Altitude Reserve credit card. The card has a steep $400 annual fee but it’s offset by a $325 annual travel credit along with many other benefits.
For the first year, the Altitude Reserve is a great deal although I can’t see keeping it after that. The card has an interesting bonus category, 3X points with mobile wallet purchases so I just started using Apple Pay. Less than half of the businesses I’ve used the card at to date accept Apple Pay but it’s a pretty cool payment option which I might even start to use with other credit cards in the future.
