The UberSLEIGH Toy Drive Is Coming To New York

Screen Shot 2013-12-10 at 5.15.49 PM

Although I’ve never used Uber, I love all of the interesting & odd promotions that they come up with.

The first Uber promo that I can recall was over the summer when they delivered ice cream in various cities around the country. The next promo that stood out was in late October. Uber delivered kittens for National Cat Day.

Uber started off the holiday season on December 5 by delivering Christmas trees on-demand for one day. I was a bit surprised that Uber did not run a Thanksgivukkah promotion.

Now Uber would like to help spread the holiday cheer, looking for help in giving back.

Brown Tree Snake

I’ve heard of chemical warfare but never mouse warfare- until yesterday.

I saw an article posted to Yahoo News about a very interesting yet bizarre story.

2,000 dead mice were airdropped over a United States Air Force base in Guam with the hopes that they would poison and help stop the spread of brown tree snakes.

Joggling 26.2 Miles In The NYC Marathon

Who knew that some people like to juggle while running a marathon? I didn’t but here is how I found out.

On Sunday, November 3 the ING New York City Marathon was taking place around the 5 boroughs. Kim and I had the bright idea to head to Williamsburg, Brooklyn for brunch.

We made it there in record time but once we got near the area  that the marathon ran through, there was no way to drive any further. The streets were cordoned off with police roadblocks for what seemed like, everywhere! We were driving further and further from our destination and then decided to change plans and go elsewhere.

Finding Banksy In Coney Island

photo (6)

I’m not really a fan of art but was really interested in the excitement that Banksy caused around NYC during his month-long residency Better Out Than In.  For just about every day in October, Banksy debuted a new work of art ranging from moving pieces, sculptures and his typical graffiti around the 5 boroughs of NYC.

At first I didn’t pay much attention to the hype but then it got interesting when Banksy set up a stand by Central Park. A vendor was selling original Banksy pieces for only $60 but it didn’t lead to many sales. The few lucky people who made a purchase are sitting on a small gold mine if they ever figure out what they have.

I started following closer each day, checking to see what Banksy would come up with next. It was also fun to find out which boroughs and neighborhoods the pieces were placed in.
