$5 Free On iTunes From Amex Offers

a screenshot of a advertisementIn recent years Amex has had some very nice money-saving offers when you “snyc” them through social sites or save the offers in your Amex account.

Most of them usually require some sort of spend to get the discount. For instance, for those of you with little kids, Amex is currently offering a $5 statement credit when spending $25 at Carters. At one of my favorite stores- Brooklyn Industries, Amex will give you $15 back when you spend $75 or more.

However, my favorite kind of offers are those that are free.

Get A Free Zagat NYC Restaurants Guide

a group of red menusSometimes it’s nice to hold a book and not just read everything online, especially when it is free!

I’ve been participating in the Zagat surveys for years and always got rewarded with a free copy of the newest guide. However, I stopped participating a couple of years back.

Initially I’d leave the Zagat book in my glove compartment for reference when out and about. However, with just about all of us having smartphones, the value of the Zagat guide has definitely gone down.

IHG Rewards Club: 1,000 Points Next Stay Bonus

a balcony with a view of the ocean

It’s been a while since Kim, Lucas and I last stayed at an IHG property.

I am pretty sure that our last stay was at the end of our trip to Japan when we spent a couple of nights at the ANA Intercontinental Tokyo. We booked the 2 night stay with our Chase Anniversary Free Night Awards. (For having the Chase IHG Rewards Club card, you pay an annual fee of $49 which comes with one free night anywhere in the world each year.)

If this deal continues, I can’t see why Kim or I would ever close our Chase IHG Rewards Club cards.

Targeted: Free Southwest Points + 20% Off Code

Southwest

Last year we got great use out of my Southwest Companion Pass, using it to take 5.5 trips. Now its time for us to start making use of Kim’s pass.

After getting a Southwest personal & business credit card (each coming with a 50,000 points sign up bonus), I earned the status after completing an additional $10,000 in spend. What makes the pass an amazing value is that a “companion” flies for free, only paying tax when added to the pass-holder’s reservation. The companion pass essentially makes your points worth double.

With Southwest points being devalued recently, we rushed to make some bookings to try to use up most of Kim’s points. We now have 3 flights booked starting in May and still have more points to burn. The only difference this time is that Lucas needs a ticket. This adds a significant cost to these trips. We’ll actually be traveling for the first time ever without Lucas later in the year.

Airbus Wants To Sell You A Plane

a close-up of an airplane

Yesterday I came across a tweet from Airbus which mentioned they were launching their new online shop.

While I do have a bunch of airline-related souvenirs including an awesome Singapore Airlines A380 model (that I got at a Travel Massive event), I don’t plan on buying any more collectibles ( junk) to add to my collection.

However, I thouht that it would be fun to check out the site to see what kind of things Airbus was offering for sale.

Vanilla Reloads- One Last Time?

Vanilla ReloadsSo today is the final day for easy manufactured spend at CVS chain-wide using credit cards to purchase pre-paid cards like Vanilla Reloads.

After failing to score any at my usual, reliable location a couple of days back, I decided yesterday to give up on trying. Just a day prior to being told of the changes I had unexpected success at this same location.

All along I was hoping that the imminent demise of purchasing cards was not going to happen and for good reason- I was told some positive news at CVS over the weekend.

Vanilla Reloads At CVS in Brooklyn, NY- Is It The End?

cvs-logoOver the weekend all of us miles & points enthusiasts were in a mad dash to pick up our favorite flavor- Vanilla for most likely the last time.

After being very successful with my Vanilla Reload purchases all week, I went in on Sunday looking for more. I had picked up a bunch on Saturday but cards were out of stock this time. I spoke with a couple of employees, both of whom I think were managers and asked about changes coming to VR purchases but got (what I hoped) was some good news.

Find out What My Local CVS (Brooklyn, NY) Told Me About Vanilla Reloads.

Yesterday, March 31 was supposed to be the day when purchasing Vanilla with credit cards at CVS was supposed to end. Continue reading Vanilla Reloads At CVS in Brooklyn, NY- Is It The End?

Vanilla Reload Success In Brooklyn, NY

a group of cards on a green surface

Yesterday morning I wrote about What My Local CVS (Brooklyn, NY) Told Me About Vanilla Reloads. While the usual store that I buy reloads at wasn’t supposed to have cards until Tuesday (today) at the earliest, I decided to stop by since I had a break around noon.

I mentioned in one of my later posts that I had some luck and would share the details today.

Check out the post Vanilla Reload Doomsday Updates From Around The Country where you’ll find out that quite a few cities are still selling reloads, as of 3/31 (and some that aren’t).

Thanks to all of the readers that shared their Vanilla Reload location info with us!

Here is my tale of Vanilla Reload luck that I had yesterday.
