It’s no secret that my favorite food is pizza. Besides having an Instagram account for travel, I also have one dedicated to pizza! (I actually post to that one much more than my travel account.)
When we were all spending more time at home due to the pandemic, I picked up a new hobby. I started making pizza- both NY and Detroit-style!
While I’m not a fast food pizza fan, I’ve been wanting to try Little Caesars Detroit Style Deep Dish for quite some time, partly for research and partly out of curiosity. A couple of weeks back, during a conversation in Pizza Club on Clubhouse, I found out that Little Caesars Detroit Style was only $8.99!
For that price, there was nothing to lose. The following day was a rainy one. I figured it was as good of a time as ever to stop by Little Caesars for a pie. I’m pretty sure this was our fist time trying out the chain…I ordered a Detroit-Style Deep Dish Pepperoni for $8.99. With tax, the total came to $9.79.
When I arrived, I looked for my name on the screen on the Pizza Portal, entered my code and reached in to grab my pie. Definitely a cool order pick up system! I was very curious to see what this Little Caesars DSP looked like. When I opened the box, I was surprised to see a lack of saucy stripes on the pie. I was also confused as to why it looked like two pies were in the box.
Regardless, it looked pretty decent and I couldn’t wait to give it a try. When I picked up the slice, it was greasy but that’s to be expected with Detroit-style pizza as it is baked in a greased pan.
As for the flavor, I’d best describe it as decent. The sauce was kind of tangy but I don’t say that in a good or bad way.
The best part of DSP is the cheesy edge. On the Little Caesars version, there isn’t a lot of it. It was still crispy and tasty though, definitely my favorite part of the slice! (The rest of the crust had a squishy texture.)
Final Thoughts:
The Little Caesars Detroit- Style Deep Dish Pizza looked and tasted much better than expected. Dare I say, it was kind of enjoyable! 🙂
At $8.99, I’d definitely consider it a bargain. Would I order it again? I wouldn’t go out of my way for it but I could see ordering it again out of convenience.
