NYC’s Awesome Big Apple BBQ Block Party Returns June 13-14

Big Apple Barbecue Block PartyThe 13th annual Big Apple Barbecue Block Party returns on June 13 – 14, 2015 to Madison Square Park in New York City.

The event is what I’d credit for making me a big fan of barbecue. It’s probably one of my favorite kinds of foods although I wouldn’t place it above pizza and burgers! 🙂 Continue reading NYC’s Awesome Big Apple BBQ Block Party Returns June 13-14

I recently wrote about one of the crazier tourism scams in New York City that I’ve ever come across.

A couple of tourists paid $400 for a ride on the FREE Staten Island Ferry. The con man was arrested for the crime soon after it took place but now he’s decided to sue the city!

Imagine, you con tourists and have the nerve to sue for being caught ripping people off… Continue reading Man Who Sold $400 FREE Staten Island Ferry Tix Suing NYC

I recently wrote about a tourist scam in New York City where a couple of tourists paid $400 to ride the FREE Staten Island Ferry! I came across this story not too many days after hearing about tourists being charged up to $30 for a hot dog in the city!

This goes to show that you need to do your research and have an idea of what things should cost when visiting a new place.

I just came across another story of a massive scam which might be better described as a con. This time the target wasn’t tourists. Continue reading Woman Claims To Be UN Diplomat, Cons Hotels & Restaurants

Tourists Pay $400 For FREE Staten Island Ferry Ride

I recently read about a tourist scam in New York City where one shady hot dog vendor was  charging tourists up to $30 for a hot dog!

When I read that story I couldn’t believe that anyone would fall for that outrageous pricing… Could tourist scams get much worse? They sure can….

The Staten Island Ferry is used by locals and tourists for different reasons. Those living on SI take the ferry as a way to get to NYC for work and play while tourists take the ferry for the great views (and most likely not to visit the borough itself)…

Everyone pays a bargain basement price to ride the ferry- it’s free unless you just don’t know better… Continue reading Tourists Pay $400 For FREE Staten Island Ferry Ride

Danny Meyer Opening Food Hall in NYC

Danny Meyer
Met Danny Meyer at the T4 opening

Food Halls are a hot topic in New York City these days and new ones seem to be popping up all over.

Some of the more well know food halls are Eataly, Gotham West and Chelsea Market.

My personal favorite would probably be Berg’n in Brooklyn, NY. It only has a handful of vendors but all are top-notch. The only problem is that they are starting to rotate some of my favorite vendors- Pizza Moto is now gone and my other fave, Ramen Burger is supposed to be moving on at the end of next month. Driver w/ Uber Sign In Car Window Sexually Assaults Woman

Uber News

Does seeing a Uber sign in a car’s window make you trust the driver?

If you’ve requested a ride through the Uber app it’s probably safe to say that the car is legit. Once you request a ride you will know what color and the make of car coming to pick you up, along with a photo of the driver and his/ her name.

However, if you happen to see cars with a Uber sign trying to accept customers that didn’t request a ride through the app it might be a scam. Continue reading Driver w/ Uber Sign In Car Window Sexually Assaults Woman

Last month I wrote about Uber offering a very nice deal for stranded L train passengers in New York City.

Due to the MTA shutting down the L train for 5 weekends, Uber  has been offering $5 flat rate UberPool rides along the line from NYC to Williamsburg in Brooklyn during these dates.

Uber says that “thousands of people have taken advantage of $5 UberPool flat rates between Williamsburg and Manhattan“. Continue reading NYC L Train Shutdown, UberPool Lowers Prices to $2.75
