A McDonalds Menu Item in Japan I’d LOVE To Try

I’ve written many times in the past about how I love to check out McDonald’s around the world but rarely visit McD’s at home.

I have a few reasons for visiting McD’s when traveling. The main reason is that I love to see what local menu-items might be available in each country. The other reason is that a visit to McD’s for Lucas is like a treat. We don’t really go at home but he loves getting a toy. Also they usually have free Wifi which comes in handy when abroad. (Surprisingly, the McD’s locations we visited around Japan did not have Wifi.)

Here are some countries that I’ve visited McDonald’s and wrote about: Continue reading A McDonalds Menu Item in Japan I’d LOVE To Try

Considering how involved Japan is when it comes to electronics and automobiles, I found it hard to believe that the country hasn’t made a passenger plane in 50 years.

On Wednesday, November 11 that changed when Mitsubishi launched the first Japanese-made passenger jet, according to CNN. Continue reading 1st Japanese Passenger Jet in 50 Years Debuts

One of the Strangest Museums Opened in Japan

I’ve written many times about how I like visiting odd and quirky museums.

Most recently, I visited the Waffle House Museum in Atlanta, GA. Some other museums of note that would fit in with odd and quirky would be:

It seems like many strange and odd museums exist in Japan. Another one recently opened which I’d like to visit in the future… Continue reading One of the Strangest Museums Opened in Japan

Free Wi-Fi in Japan. Kind Of…

Free WiFi Japan

A little over two years back, Kim, Lucas and I headed to Japan. While I had always wanted to go to Japan (I’d like to go everywhere!), it wasn’t a place very high on my list. However, the country blew me away and the trip greatly over-exceeded any expectations.

With Japan being a leader in developing technology, one thing that surprised me was the lack of Wi-Fi in public places and restaurants.

Well now there seems to be Japan Connected-Free Wi-Fi nationwide. Kind of… Continue reading Free Wi-Fi in Japan. Kind Of…

Win A Flight To Japan in the ANA Caption Contest

all nippon airways

ANA is celebrating their new Houston to Tokyo- Narita route which takes off on June 12, 2015 with a little contest.

The airline is looking for help to create a caption which will be printed on a special ANA umbrella. The umbrella commemorates the inaugural flight and will be given  to passengers onboard as a special gift!

While I’d be happy to get a commemorative ANA umbrella, I’d love to win the prize in their Caption Writing Contest even more. Continue reading Win A Flight To Japan in the ANA Caption Contest

Feeling Lonely? Dine With An Unusual Guest In Japan

Are you the type that’s uncomfortable dining out along? If so the Moomin House Cafe in Tokyo can help.

The cafe seats lone customers with stuffed animals called Moomins so they won’t have to sit and dine alone. (Stuffed animals are also brought to groups so they can get a turn sitting with them.) I don’t know, if you ask me, I’d guess that dining with a stuffed animal is much more awkward than dining alone!

Ridiculous Street Signs #18: The Correct Way To Use The Bathroom In Japan

IMG_2711In late June Kim, Lucas and I visited Japan and had an amazing time traveling around the country. Kim and I had transited through Tokyo a few times previously but never made it out of the airport before.

It was finally nice to get out and have the chance to explore the country. It was a whirlwind trip and thanks to the amazing and efficient Japan Rail, we got to see quite a few cities in a short period of time.

Japan was never high on my list of places to go but it was still a country that I had to visit at some point. We were also happy to find Japan to be a great place to travel to with a toddler. Along the way, Lucas made lots of friends and many of the “seniors” even gave him little toys which was extremely nice.
