A woman known as the “Serial Stowaway” was arrested at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport as she tried to sneak past airport security.
Marilyn Hartman was charged by Chicago police on Saturday “with a felony count of criminal trespass to a registered area at an airport,” according to ABC News. Continue reading Serial Stowaway Caught, Arrested Trying To Sneak Past Airport Security
During our trip to South Asia, we had a long layover in Chicago before making our way to the Maldives.
I was hoping to go into the city but it seemed too far away to make it worthwhile. Instead, Kim and I decided to go to Morton Grove (around 20 minutes away) to grab lunch at Pequod’s Pizza.
Pequod’s Pizza is deep-dish, Chicago-style pizza known for its “carmelized crust” edge. Continue reading A Visit To The Famed Pequod’s Pizza During A Layover In Chicago
Over the years I’ve written about our visits to McDonald’s locations around the world.
While I rarely dine at McD’s at home, I love trying out items which are on international McDonalds menus that aren’t offered in the US. Continue reading International McDonald’s Menu Items Will Be Available At New Chicago Headquarters
For a limited time, HMSHost is running a cooking contest where five lucky winners will win a trip to Chicago’s O’Hare Airport to compete in a live cook-off.
What’s even cooler about this contest is that one Grand Prize winner from the group of 5 will win another trip to Chicago to attend the James Beard Awards in May. They’ll also win flights for 2 to fly to the destination of their choice within the continental US. Continue reading Win 1 of 5 Spots In A Cooking Contest At Chicago O’Hare Airport
Ride-share services are trying hard to earn our business. I frequently receive limited time offers to save on Lyft and Uber rides.
While Uber also offers lots of fun gimmicky promos like delivering kittens, air conditioners and gift bags, I haven’t heard of Lyft trying to advertise or promote themselves in this way.
I just came across a really interesting promotion that Lyft will be running, starting January 18. Continue reading Lyft To Offer Beer With Discount Codes On Can!
In early December I wrote about a contest where you could win a trip for 2 to the Virgin Hotels in San Francisco.
While that contest has ended, there’s currently a fun holiday- themed contest going on where six lucky winner will win a two- night stay at the Virgin Hotels located in Chicago (3 winners) or San Francisco (3 winners) . Continue reading Win A Two Night Stay At Virgin Hotels (6 Winners)
When I got home from work yesterday, I had an e-mail from my friend (and fellow BoardingArea blogger) Rene who writes the blog Rene’s Points.
The e-mail was a link to a news article which shared some sad news that took place at Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium. Continue reading Shedd Aquarium Puts Down 90 Year-Old Lungfish
I mentioned in my post about The Doughnut Vault that prior to heading to Chicago I was looking to find some places that seemed a bit more off the beaten path.
When I came across the Shit Fountain I knew that I had found possibly one of the oddest sites.
The fountain is located outside of a private home at 1005 N. Wolcott Avenue. It was created by Chicago artist Jerzy S. Kenar due to being pissed about locals not cleaning up after their dogs.

It seems like we can get just about anything we need at Target but the food and drink offerings are what I’d consider sub-par.
I’m pretty sure that every Target has a Starbucks but I am not a coffee drinkers. They usually have small cafe areas across from Starbuks selling snacks, drinks, a few food items as well as Pizza Hut.
During desperately hungry times I’ve eaten at the Target Pizza Huts which are definitely nothing great.
Well now Target has a new idea coming to an upcoming Chicago location. Continue reading Target Opening In-Store Wine Bar
I was a bit surprised to come across news that American Airlines had been named the official airline of the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field.
Considering the airline has it’s headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas wouldn’t being the official airline of the Rangers have made more sense? I’m sure there is more to it than sponsoring a baseball team when it comes to this deal. Continue reading American Airlines: New Official Airline of Chicago Cubs
