You’ll Dig Dining At Mister Dips- Brooklyn, NY

awesome burgers

When I first read that chef and restaurateur Andrew Carmellini would be opening a burger and ice cream stand at the new William Vale Hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, I knew that I had to check it out.

I’ve had burgers at a couple of Carmellini’s restaurants (The Dutch and Lafayette) and they were awesome so I had high expectation for this new fast-food concept.

Mister Dips opened on Thursday, September 29,  and my family and I headed by to check it out a couple of days later. Continue reading You’ll Dig Dining At Mister Dips- Brooklyn, NY

Historic Burger Sliders at White Mana in Jersey City

white mana

I first came across the historic White Mana Diner, located in Jersey City, NJ when it made an appearance of the Food Network’s show Food Feuds.

White Mana’s home is a small, almost round building which was first used at the 1939 NY World’s Fair before it was moved to its present location in Jersey City. According to the sign outside, it’s been open in NJ since 1946. Continue reading Historic Burger Sliders at White Mana in Jersey City

The Awesome Off-Menu Burger at American Cut Tribeca, NYC

American Cut

Last summer I came across an off-menu burger at steakhouse American Cut located in New York City’s Tribeca.

The chef and owner of American Cut is Iron Chef Marc Forgione. The restaurant has been ranked as one of the top steakhouses in American multiple times. Impressive, right!

I was hoping to go to American Cut to try their burger but hadn’t had the chance to do so until recently. Continue reading The Awesome Off-Menu Burger at American Cut Tribeca, NYC

The Workingman’s Friend, An Odd But Tasty Burger Experience

Workingman's FriendOver the summer Lucas and I went away three weeks in a row, coming home each week on Friday to visit Kim before going away again. This was an interesting summer adventure which also ended up being a lot of fun.

Our third trip was to Indianapolis, Indiana.

When we arrived after the short flight, we were hungry for lunch. There was one place that I had to go. Since Lucas & I were in the mood for a burger, we headed to a place I’ve wanted to visit for quite some time. We headed from the airport straight over to The Workingman’s Friend. Did Lucas & I Conquer Big Jud’s 1lb Burger in Boise

Big Juds

Lucas and I recently went on a trip to Boise, Idaho.

This was our first time to the state of Idaho and we spent our time primarily in Boise.

When we arrived after a long day of flying, we checked into our hotel and then headed out for dinner. Our destination was Big Jud’s, a restaurant that I came across from the TV show Man vs Food due to their burger challenges. Continue reading Did Lucas & I Conquer Big Jud’s 1lb Burger in Boise

I Won’t Be Making A Habit Of Dining At The Habit Burger Grill

a red sign with white text

I came across an article from Consumer Reports a while back which listed the best and worst fast food restaurants in America.

A burger chain which I had never heard of before took the top spot for best tasting burger in America. I looked to see where the closest location of The Habit Burger Grill was to home.

It turned out that a couple of Habit Burgers were located in New Jersey but I never had a chance to go until a few weeks back. Continue reading I Won’t Be Making A Habit Of Dining At The Habit Burger Grill

The Amazing French Onion Soup Burger at Le Rivage NYC

Le Rivage NYC

Kim and I recently went to see Cirque du Soleil’s Paramour on Broadway.

With the show starting at 7:30 PM and lasting for around two hours, we needed to find a place to go for dinner close by (before the show).

Since I try to avoid the Times Square area as much as possible, I wasn’t really sure where we should dine. But then I remembered a place that I had read about a while back which served a burger that won the New York City Wine & Food Festival’s Burger Bash in 2013.

That made our decision easy. Kim and I headed to a pre-theater dinner at Le Rivage NYC. Continue reading The Amazing French Onion Soup Burger at Le Rivage NYC

Food Review: Shake Shack’s Bacon CheddarSHACK

a sign in a restaurant

When I heard  that a new burger option would be added to the Shake Shack menu on June 3rd, I had to head over to give it a try.

Last night, Kim, Lucas and I headed to the Shake Shack on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, NY to try out the new Bacon CheddarSHACK!

Some of you might ask what the big deal is about Shake Shack adding a bacon cheeseburger to their menu. The thing is that just about any item we’ve tried at Shake Shack has been awesome so the odds were pretty good that this wouldn’t be just an ordinary bacon cheeseburger. Is This The Best Burger in Cuba?

hotel nacional

During our trip to Cuba we had to stop by the historic Hotel Nacional in Havana to check it out. While visiting the hotel, I mentioned how it felt like we were at a museum in some ways.

Free tours are offered at the property and if timing was on our side, I would’ve loved to have taken one of these tours of the hotel.

I’ve read (and heard from Anthony Bourdain) that the food in Cuba is much better than it used to be. The main reason for this is that many more private restaurants have opened in recent years. The types of food to being cooked is supposed to be creative and diverse. Continue reading Is This The Best Burger in Cuba?
