A Long Junk-Foodie Layover in Los Angeles

a large donut on top of a buildingOn the way to the Pacific, the Michael W Travels family had a long layover in Los Angeles. During our time we had to deal with The Most Expensive Luggage Storage Ever.

I booked our flights from JFK to LAX and LAX to NAN using points on different airlines.  We chose  to have the long layover in Los Angeles since we didn’t want to take a chance on missing our international flight.  We initially figured that it would be a good opportunity to wander around LA.

However, in LA things are really spread out, Uber rides can be pricey and traffic could be a real pain. Continue reading A Long Junk-Foodie Layover in Los Angeles

You NEED To Try The Big Macher Burger at Mile End Deli

Mile End Deli

One of my favorite foods is the hamburger. This should come as no surprise considering how many burger reviews I’ve written here at Michael W Travels.

What I love about burgers is that they can come in so many different varieties. The bun, meat, cheese and other topping all can vary, making for lots of unique kinds of burgers!

You wouldn’t expect to find an amazing burger at a Jewish- style deli, but you can get a really great burger at Mile End Deli in Brooklyn, NY. Continue reading You NEED To Try The Big Macher Burger at Mile End Deli

Pass on the Steak, Head to Peter Luger For Their Amazing Burger

peter lugerOK, so if you’re making a special trip to Peter Luger, I know you’ll most likely want to try their famous steak (and I don’t blame you) but hear me out on this one…

Peter Luger is considered by many to be the best steakhouse in New York City. If you want to get in, odds are pretty high that you’ll need a reservation which needs to be made a month in advance.

I’ve had steak at Peter Luger and it is really good but it’s also really pricey. If you ask me, a better option for visiting this historic restaurant is to head over during the day to give their awesome burger (available until 3:45pm) a try. The Most Interesting Priority Pass Lounge I’ve Visited

priority pass lounge

The Michael W Travels family recently got back from an awesome little trip to Ireland.

While Dublin is usually a quick flight from NYC, we flew on connecting flights each way. A small inconvenience is worth it to save on the cost of a flight, if you ask me…

During our travels we got to visit a Priority Pass lounge in three airports. Two of the lounges were solid offering food, snacks, drinks and a place to relax.

The other Priority Pass lounge was quite different and possibly the most interesting one that I’ve ever visited. Continue reading The Most Interesting Priority Pass Lounge I’ve Visited

Get A FREE Shake Shack Burger!

shake shack

I’ve mentioned many times before that Shake Shack is my favorite fast-casual restaurant, especially when it comes to their delicious burgers.

And what’s better than a tasty ShackBurger? A FREE ShackBurger!

Last year Chick-fil-A gave away free chicken sandwiches to those of us who downloaded their new app. Now Shake Shack is following along with an offer of their own. Continue reading Get A FREE Shake Shack Burger!

Love Airplanes? Check Out El Avion Restaurant in Costa Rica

el avionOver the winter break, Kim, Lucas, Theo and I headed to Costa Rica. This would be Theo’s first international trip at just under four months old (and third time flying).

Kim and I expected to do some outdoorsy activities like hiking, spotting wildlife, spending a little time on the beach and other things along those lines. However, we never expected to come across such an interesting place as El Avion. Continue reading Love Airplanes? Check Out El Avion Restaurant in Costa Rica

What Should You Order At Salvation Burger NYC?

L-Salvation Burger, R- Classic Burger

Last April, Kim, Lucas and I spent a couple of nights at the Radisson Martinique, located in Koreatown, NYC.

During our visit (from our distant home in Brooklyn, NY) I decided that we needed to try out the burgers at what might be the hottest, new burger shop in the city, Salvation Burger from Chef April Bloomfield (famous for The Spotted Pig among other restaurants).

Soon after our visit, a fire broke out in Salvation Burger so I held back on posting my review of the restaurant. With the restaurant reopening in early December after various delays, I felt it was finally time to post my review. Continue reading What Should You Order At Salvation Burger NYC?

The Awesome French Onion Soup Burger at Little Prince NYC

Little Prince NYC

Earlier in the year I wrote about The Amazing French Onion Soup Burger at Le Rivage in NYC.

I’m a big fan of burgers and on my list of burgers to try in NYC there happened to be another restaurant serving a French onion soup burger.

Kim, Lucas and I headed over to Little Prince NYC to give their version of the French Onion Soup Burger a try. Continue reading The Awesome French Onion Soup Burger at Little Prince NYC
