Smartphone Causes Plane To Make Emergency Landing

Flight Delays

Flight delays happen for many different reasons. This has got to be one of the strangest reasons that I’ve ever heard of…

(I came across the story due to a tweet from @JohnnyJet.)

A British Airways plane carrying around 200 passengers had to make an “unscheduled landing” in Siberia due to a passenger but it wasn’t due to bad behavior.

The passenger’s mobile phone overheated! Continue reading Smartphone Causes Plane To Make Emergency Landing

And They’re Back! British Airways Avios Return

British Airways AviosThis past Friday many of us tried logging into our British Airways accounts to find ourselves to be locked out. Upon changing the account password and getting back in, we then found our accounts to be zeroed out!

It turned out that this was done preemptively by BA to protect our accounts. Too bad the airline wasn’t wise enough to notify us when this action took place…

This led me to ask- Hey British Airways, Where Are My Avios? Continue reading And They’re Back! British Airways Avios Return

Avios That Went Adios To Be Re-credited

British Airways Avios

Yesterday many of us noticed that our British Airways Avios balances were zeroed out to supposedly protect us from being hacked.

It was rather odd that British didn’t (and still hasn’t) communicated with us about exactly what is going on.

I wrote a post last night, Hey British Airways, Where Are My Avios. Continue reading Avios That Went Adios To Be Re-credited

Hey British Airways, Where Are My Avios

British Airways Avios

After I got home from work I stopped by the BoardingArea homepage and saw a couple of reports of British Airways Avios accounts being hacked.

I decided to read the articles from The Gate and Miles to Memories before checking in on my account.

It seems that many Avios accounts were hacked and British Airways may have used a preventative measure to protect others by locking their accounts  and/ or zeroing the balance for now. Continue reading Hey British Airways, Where Are My Avios

Stinky Poop Causes Plane To Turn Around, I Shit You Not

Flight Delays

I’m pretty sure that a couple of friends of mine just sent me one of the funniest stories ever related to air travel.

I logged into Facebook and saw an alert from my friend Nat. Her husband Rich, (one of my oldest friends since we’re like 5 or 6 years old) wanted to share an article with me.

So what could it be? Continue reading Stinky Poop Causes Plane To Turn Around, I Shit You Not

Transferred: Amex Points to BA Avios, Bonus Mostly Spent

British Airways Avios

Last month I wrote a post asking: Should I transfer my Amex points to BA?

After waiting and waiting for what seemed like way too long for a solid transfer bonus to be offered by American Express, it seemed that now was the time to make a move. Getting a 40% bonus for transferring Membership Rewards points to British Airways Avios seemed enticing enough to me. Continue reading Transferred: Amex Points to BA Avios, Bonus Mostly Spent

Should I Transfer My Amex Points to BA?

American Express Membership RewardsI’ve been thinking of transferring my American Express Membership Rewards points for quite some time and now might be the time to do so.

A couple of years back I got a great offer for a new American Express card but had to fight to get my 100,000 Membership Rewards points bonus.

Besides the bonus, I also have other Membership Rewards points, some of which were transferred over the years to airlines like Continental and JetBlue.

I still have over 100,000 Membership Rewards points and Continue reading Should I Transfer My Amex Points to BA?

Chase British Airways Card Retention Offer

Chase British Airways Card

After paying the annual fee on my Chase British Airways Visa card for 2 years (so that I could earn the full 100,000 Avios bonus offer) the time had come to most likely close the card.

The Chase BA card comes with an annual fee of $95 and for my purposes the card isn’t worth paying for anymore.

I decided to give British Airways Visa customer service a call. Continue reading Chase British Airways Card Retention Offer

British Airways is thinking outside the box and getting very creative when it comes to the inflight entertainment offerings for long-haul flights.

The airline will be offering a new channel to help you relax during the flight which involves baby animals called Paws and Relax. Continue reading British Airways To Offer Relaxing New In-flight Channel
