evora portugalUpon landing in Lisbon, we picked up our rental car and then drove straight to Evora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed for its historic center.

While planning our trip, I decided on visiting Evora primarily due to one ghoulish site. I came across Portugal’s Chapel of Bones (Capella Dos Ossos) through one of my favorite sites, Atlas Obscura. Continue reading A Visit To The Ghoulish Bones Chapel In Evora, Portugal

What Did We Try At McDonald’s The Netherlands

the NetherlandsLucas and I recently returned from our Father-Son Trip to the Netherlands.

During our visit, we based out of Amsterdam and spent a couple of days enjoying the city. We also took day trips to Utrecht and Haarlem. Both are easy day/ half-day trips from Amsterdam and well worth checking out.

Whenever we visit another country, we love checking out McDonald’s to see what locally inspired menu items are offered. Continue reading What Did We Try At McDonald’s The Netherlands

How Was It Flying Norwegian Air With Their Strict Baggage Rules

Norwegian Air

I recently wrote about a sweet deal, NYC- Amsterdam for $356 roundtrip.

While booking this deal with Norwegian Air, I had some concerns due to their strict baggage rules. The airline clearly states restrictions like the max size your bag can be and the allowed weight you can carry on for flights.

Due to this, I decided to pay to use the overhead bin during the flight. I figured that for an additional $12 each way, it was worth it to pay to bring a rollaboard. Continue reading How Was It Flying Norwegian Air With Their Strict Baggage Rules

Appalachian Trail: TN-NC State Line

Last week our little man Lucas turned 8 years-old!

Rather than have a birthday party, our family opted to celebrate by going on a quick trip to Philadelphia (probably our favorite city close to NYC). Since we all love to travel, this was a great way to celebrate!

I can still remember our first trip with Lucas at 3 months old to Barbados and now, here he is at 8 years-old having already visited 64 countries! No, that isn’t a typo, before turning 8, Lucas made it past 60 countries. Yes, Lucas is a true world traveler! Continue reading Happy B-Day World Traveler Lucas- 8 Years-Old, 64 Countries Visited!

A Family-Friendly Must Visit In Asheville- The Moogseum

ashevilleOver winter break, the Michael W Travels family went on a road trip to the Deep South.

During the trip we visited a couple of new states. We also made a stop in Asheville, NC, a city I’ve wanted to visit for quite some time.

4 Hours Exploring West Virginia with Kids!

West VirginiaThe Michael W Travels family set off on a Deep South Road Trip for winter break 2019.

During our trip, the plan was to visit two new states and as luck would have it, West Virginia was just a half hour away from where we spent our first night.

Due to this, we decided to spend some time visiting Harpers Ferry National Historic Park. While we didn’t have the time to see more of the state, we had a great time, even more so since one of my best and oldest friends met up with us with his family.

Here is a short review of our time in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Continue reading 4 Hours Exploring West Virginia with Kids!

pizza palaceFor winter break 2019, we decided to head off on a Deep South Road Trip. While we hoped to fly to an international destination, a deal or award flight never materialized.

While on the way to our furthest destination, Birmingham, Alabama, we passed through Knoxville, Tennessee.

Knoxville was a good place for a pitstop to grab a bite to eat and take a break. It also just so happened to be home to a drive-in pizzeria, the Pizza Palace! Continue reading Our Visit To A Drive-In Pizzeria- Pizza Palace in Knoxville, TN

Ridiculous Street Signs #26: For Drying Hands Only- Vik, Iceland
