When traveling to new places, I research the areas we’ll be visiting on a variety of sites to find things to see and do.
One of my favorite sites is
. Atlas Obscura claims to be, “ Atlas Obscura the definitive guide to the world’s hidden wonders.” I’d agree with their claim as on the site we’ve found lots of interesting and off the beaten path things to visit over the years.
During our visit to Iceland, we came across a somewhat bizarre attraction that I wanted to check out as long as it wasn’t really out of the way.

Upon landing in Lisbon, we picked up our rental car and then drove straight to Evora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed for its historic center.
While planning our trip, I decided on visiting Evora primarily due to one ghoulish site. I came across Portugal’s Chapel of Bones (Capella Dos Ossos) through one of my favorite sites, Atlas Obscura.

Atlas Obscura is giving away a trip for two to Turkmenistan and the Gates of Hell!
The prize includes a guided tour to this country rarely visited by tourists and a gift card to be used towards flights.
We’ve wanted to visit Turkmenistan for a while primarily to check out the Gates of Hell (a gas crater which has been burning since 1971) so I’d love to win this prize. However, due to the dates of the tour, I won’t be entering.
