Top 25 Museums in the World

Top Museums
State Hermitage Museum & Winter Palace

There are many great museums around the world. However, naming the best ones can definitely be subjective. I think if we were all asked to name our favorite museum, it’s safe to say that we’d get tons of different answers.

I highly doubt that some of my favorite museums would make any best-of lists.

One of my favorites, the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia, features medical oddities. Another favorite would be The Viking Ship Museum in Oslo, Norway. I’ve also enjoyed various food museums and some art museums although I wouldn’t consider myself a big art fan. Continue reading Top 25 Museums in the World

Will the Concorde Fly Again?

The Concorde

Earlier this year we learned about a man that has flown the Concorde over 700 times.

While I did get to sit in the cockpit of the supersonic plane as a little kid and also visited the Barbados Concorde Experience a few years back,  I never had a chance (not many did) to take a flight on the supersonic plane.

The Concorde has been out of service since 2003 but there is a chance that it might take flight again in less than 5 years. Continue reading Will the Concorde Fly Again?

What Counts As Valid Form of ID For Domestic Flights

Real ID Act

We recently found out that New York Driver’s Licenses (+ 3 Other States) won’t be valid for domestic flights next year due to the Real ID Act.

(The post mentions Louisiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire & New York as the states in which licenses will not be accepted next year. Some readers pointed out that Arizona and Idaho will also not be valid in the future).

This news might be causing some of us to worry although we don’t know for sure if the rule will even be enforced next year. Continue reading What Counts As Valid Form of ID For Domestic Flights

What Would You Do During Plane Emergency Evacuation

Emergency Evacuation

A couple of days back a British Airway’s plane engine caught fire during take off at McCarran Airport in Las Vegas.

Luckily everyone made it out alive with just 13 people (possible more) being sent “to local hospitals for treatment” according to CNN. The plane was evacuated within five minutes with passengers and crew using the emergency evacuation slides.

Some passengers were called out for bringing their luggage off of the plane during the emergency. Continue reading What Would You Do During Plane Emergency Evacuation

Etihad Biz Class Upgrade Offer At Check-In

Etihad Business Class Upgrade

Just before we left on our trip to the Middle East Gulf States (booked during what I’d consider the best flight connection ever), I had an interesting e-mail from Etihad.

They actually sent me the offer multiple times.

Etihad was offering me the chance to upgrade to business class by essentially bidding for the seats. By making Etihad an offer between $1,100 – $1,800 each way, I could potentially be sitting in a comfy biz class seat rather than in coach. Continue reading Etihad Biz Class Upgrade Offer At Check-In

Flight Attendants Ask You To Stop Doing This

Flight Attendants

It isn’t easy being a flight attendant.

From making sure everyone gets seated in time for take-off, figuring out the puzzle of the overhead bins, meal-service and making sure that we’re safe, there’s definitely a lot of responsibility involved.

While the job of a FA sounds way too stressful to me in some ways, there are some things that we could all do to help make their jobs a bit easier. Continue reading Flight Attendants Ask You To Stop Doing This

Top 10 All-Inclusive Resorts in U.S.

all inclusive resortsI recently wrote a post about Why I Don’t Like All Inclusive Resorts.

The main thing that I don’t like about all- inclusives is that since you’re paying a premium to stay there, you might not be as likely get out and explore the area. Then again, many times the resort is the attraction in the area.

Fodor’s came up with a slideshow of what they consider the 10 Best All- Inclusive Resorts in the US. Continue reading Top 10 All-Inclusive Resorts in U.S.

Why I Don’t Like All-Inclusive Resorts

all inclusive resorts
Customer testimonial at all-inclusive

While traveling I tend to look into spending as little as possible for a decent place to stay. I do so by mixing up stays at hostels, local hotels, using Airbnb and using hotel points.

Generally speaking, all-inclusive’s are really not my thing. My thoughts on the topic are that if you’re spending a lot of money to stay at an all-inclusive, you’re less likely to leave the resort to experience the food and activities in the area.

I feel that if you’re paying for the amenities, you might as well take advantage of them… Continue reading Why I Don’t Like All-Inclusive Resorts
