Special Delivery From Lufthansa

a yellow sign with blue text

A couple of weeks back I wrote about a prize that I won from Lufthansa in a Twitter contest.

I’ve had pretty good luck winning some travel- related prizes through Twitter over the past year or so. It never hurts to enter a contest when it takes little effort to enter. Plus if you aren’t in it, you definitely can’t win it! Continue reading Special Delivery From Lufthansa

Over the past few years I’ve heard a lot about Lufthansa’s  Rubber Ducks.

The ducks are only available to those that visit a Lufthansa First Class Lounge or the First Class Terminal. I’ve only been so lucky to fly as fancy as Lufthansa Business Class so a souvenir duck has eluded me so far.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Lufthansa Ducks, they come in a wide variety of designs. Many are seasonal and lots of people collect them. I’ve heard that they can even sell on ebay for $50- $100! Talk about some looney tunes out there! Continue reading A Twitter Contest Win from Lufthansa

My Twitter luck has struck once again and this is probably my biggest win yet!

Back in May I participated in a Club Carlson promotion called #HashtagHotel on Twitter and won 10,000 Gold Points. I’ve also found Twitter extremely useful for dealing with various customer service issues with airlines and hotels.

The value of Twitter has been pretty noticeable ever since I started using it.

Another interesting and fun thing that I take part in from time to time are Twitter Chats. Continue reading I Won A $500 Expedia Voucher!

TSA Finds For the Week: Comb Dagger, Lipstick Knife & More

a black gun with a silver handleI love reading about the crazy (mostly dangerous) things that people try to get past the TSA in their carry-ons.

The TSA does a great job of sharing with us through their blog with weekly updates. I also love getting reminders to check what’s been found by following @TSA on Twitter.

I’ve written about some of the TSA finds at the airport (here and here) last month. Continue reading TSA Finds For the Week: Comb Dagger, Lipstick Knife & More

TSA Finds Smartphone Case Knife At Boston Airport

a screenshot of a social media postI’ve been in the market for a new case for my iPhone but don’t think a new discovery by the TSA at Boston Logan Airport is for me.

The TSA Blog Team (@TSAGBlogTeam on Twitter) tweeted about the smartphone case and I couldn’t imagine what could possibly make it stand out.

Once I clicked on the Instagram link, I couldn’t believe what I saw. Continue reading TSA Finds Smartphone Case Knife At Boston Airport

a blue bird with sunglasses and a crowd of peopleClub Carlson started running an interesting (and from what I’m guessing, first of its kind) Twitter promotion at 12:00 PM ET yesterday, May 13 and ends today, May 14 at 11:59 AM ET.

In the #HashtagHotel promo, Club Carlson gave away 1,000 bonus Gold Points to the first 15,000 people who connected using Twitter and followed @ClubCarlson and filled out a sign-up form.

This offer was the pre-cursor to the main element of the promo, the 24 Hour Twitter Party.

During the party lots of prizes are to be given out including Gold Points, elite status, noise cancelling headphones and more. There are also be travel experts joining in to share some tips and tricks on how to get the most out of your travels.

United Wants You To Follow Them

a screen shot of a screenWhen Twitter first came out, I didn’t really get it. You get 140 characters to compose a Tweet and then what??? Over time I became a believer and big fan.

By picking the right people and companies to follow (in subjects that interest you), Twitter could be a valuable tool. These days, it might just be the app on my phone that I check the most.

Through Twitter I’ve followed many news stories, found interesting article, made various connections and most importantly, used it for customer service related issues.

When it comes to travel and Twitter, I find some companies get it right. American Airlines, Delta and Club Carlson have been quick to respond and help resolve issues which otherwise may have taken much longer to resolve.
