Uber To “Reeducate” Driver- Drove Through CLOSED Lincoln Tunnel

Lincoln Tunnel

When I saw the image and headline in yesterday’s Gothamist Daily e-mail, I couldn’t wait to read the details…

It’s been a while since I’ve come across a strange Uber situation. (Ex. Uber driver allegedly attacks passenger with hammer.)

To be honest, I’ve come to understand Uber’s value in the convenience of using a mobile phone to get a ride and not have to deal with any money changing hands since it’s handled through the app. After my first time using Uber, I wondered if someone could please explain the big deal. Uber Giving Gifts in NYC This Week

Uber promo

Uber doesn’t just drive passengers to their destination, they also like to do fun, gimmicky promos like deliver kittens, Christmas trees, air conditioners.

Back in September, Uber had a fun Star Wars promo where some lucky passengers got picked up in a Storm Troopers car and were given a Star Wars Hot Wheels car.

Uber is introducing 5 Days of Giving this week to some lucky New Yorkers! Continue reading Uber Giving Gifts in NYC This Week

Michael W Travels Halloween Flight Crew

American Museum of Natural History

For Halloween this year, Kim, Lucas and I did something a bit different. Rather than go trick or treating around our neighborhood, we headed to Manhattan for a very interesting event.

We went to the American Museum of Natural History for their 20th Annual Halloween Celebration.

The event sounded like a great idea where we could experience the museum while trick or treating, see characters likes Curious George & Llama Llama, hear live performances and check out what other activities were planned.

We decided to have a family theme for this year’s costume. Continue reading Michael W Travels Halloween Flight Crew

See New York “Like A Local”

Like A Local

Even when we’re not traveling, Kim and I like to explore at home. Luckily New York has a ton of things to do.

Whether it be visiting a new park with Lucas, trying out new restaurants, maybe a neighborhood we’re unfamiliar with- we’re always out and about exploring and showing Lucas the variety that New York offers, even a local…

When I received an invite for a food tour of a neighborhood in Brooklyn that I am quite familiar with, I was curious. Would a tour like this be good to recommend to readers? Would I learn something new? Would I know most of the places that the tour stops at? etc… Continue reading See New York “Like A Local”

Can You Eat Food From Every Country in World in NYC?

United Nations of Food

Well one man is trying to…

One of the fun parts of travel is trying out the local cuisine. If the food isn’t so great (Nicaragua comes to mind for me), you’ll be hoping to find something that reminds you of home. Give me a decent burger, slice of pizza, even McDonald’s at times!

I came across the story of Charles Biblios over the summer in an article from Gothamist and I thought his “mission” seemed pretty awesome.

Charles’s mission, according to his blog United Nations of Food is “to eat (reasonably) authentic cuisine from every country in the world (160 countries), without leaving New York City“. Continue reading Can You Eat Food From Every Country in World in NYC?

Anthony Bourdain’s NYC Food Hall To Open in 2017

Anthony Bourdain New York

In early 2015 I wrote about chef and TV host Anthony Bourdain’s New York City food hall opening this year. In the middle of the year it was announced that the Bourdain Market would be located at Pier 57 and Hudson River Park.

Kim and I happen to love food halls and have been looking forward to Bourdain’s offering, a take on an Asian hawker market. However, now it looks like we’ll all have to wait a bit longer for it to open. Continue reading Anthony Bourdain’s NYC Food Hall To Open in 2017
