McDonald’s Testing Out Walk Through Lane

Walk through

McDonald’s is well known for the Big Mac, Happy Meals, Ronald McDonald and more…

While I rarely dine at McDonald’s at home, I try to visit whenever I go to foreign countries to see what kind of locally- inspired menu items might be offered.

A big convenience of McDonald’s is that its fast food and they also offer drive-through service.

What if you’re walking by and don’t feel like going inside the restaurant? What if you’d like to get walk through service?  Continue reading McDonald’s Testing Out Walk Through Lane

No Watching Porn at Starbucks or McDonald’s

When looking for wifi during our travels, Kim and I used to seek out McDonald’s. They were usually a reliable place to go if we wanted to get online. In recent years I’ve found McDonald’s wifi to not be as consistent with many locations not even offering free wifi.

Another place to stop in for free wifi is Starbucks, although I can’t recall ever going there to get online. (I also don’t drink coffee so why would I!)

However, both McDonald’s and Starbucks have put their foot down recently with how some customers use the free wifi. Continue reading No Watching Porn at Starbucks or McDonald’s

I’ve written many times about how I love to visit (and try out local menu items at) McDonald’s during our travels.

I’ve written many times in the past about how I love to check out McDonald’s around the world but rarely visit McD’s at home.

I have a few reasons for visiting McD’s when traveling. The main reason is that I love to see what local menu-items might be available in each country. The other reason is that a visit to McD’s for Lucas is like a treat. We don’t really go at home but he loves getting a toy. Also they usually have free Wifi which comes in handy when abroad. (Surprisingly, the McD’s locations we visited around Japan did not have Wifi.)

Here are some countries that I’ve visited McDonald’s and wrote about: Continue reading A McDonalds Menu Item in Japan I’d LOVE To Try

Food Review: Poutine at McDonald’s Canada

McDonalds Canada

Some of you may know that I love to visit McDonald’s when traveling to new places. I pretty much never dine at McD’s at home though.

The purpose of stopping in is to see if there are any local menu items worthy of a try. McDonald’s has also become something of a treat for Lucas. He knows that it isn’t healthy and we don’t go at home but while traveling he gets to go for a toy and some chicken nuggets.

During our recent trip to Toronto, I had to stop in at a McDonalds Canada location to see if any local menu items were available. Continue reading Food Review: Poutine at McDonald’s Canada

A McDonald’s Copycat in Bahrain & It’s Good

Jasmis Bahrain

During our trip to the Mid East Gulf States, Kim, Lucas and I visited four countries.

After a quick stop in Abu Dhabi, UAE, we headed off to Bahrain. We had an amazing time in there thanks to Papa John’s, where we met our new friend Fadhel who was nice enough to show us around.

During our day with Fadhel I had commented about how we visit McDonald’s in new countries to see what kind of local items might show up on the menu.

Soon after, he pointed out another fast food burger shop which was something like Bahrain’s version of McDonald’s. Continue reading A McDonald’s Copycat in Bahrain & It’s Good

McDonald’s Nicaragua Impresses

McDonald's Nicaragua

One of the things that I have to do when visiting a new country is stop by McDonald’s. You’re probably wondering why. Well, I love checking to see if there are any locally-inspired menu items available.

While I rarely ever visit McD’s at home, I look forward to this visit during our trips! Yeah I know, you need to try the local food to really get a feel for a country. Well yes we do that too…

During our recent trip to Nicaragua, we didn’t come across a McDonald’s until close to the end of our visit. And it happened to be directly across the street from our hotel in Managua! Continue reading McDonald’s Nicaragua Impresses

Some Tasty Local Eats At McDonald’s Mexico

mcdonald's mexico

I’ve written many times in the past about how I like to visit McDonald’s while traveling to new places but rarely ever step foot inside a McD’s at home.

I stop by McDonald’s for a couple of reasons.

  1. I love seeing what local or different items might be on the menu.
  2. Sometimes you just want something to eat that is familiar.

During our trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico I visited McD’s due to reason #1. Continue reading Some Tasty Local Eats At McDonald’s Mexico

Food Review: McDonald’s Mozzarella Sticks

McDonalds Mozzarella Sticks

Some of you may have noticed that I like to visit McDonald’s while traveling around the world.

While McD’s is a place that I rarely ever dine at while home, I love stopping in international locations to see if any interesting items (which are not available in the U.S.) are sold.

From time to time I might stop at a McDonald’s at home. For example, we stopped at the Train Car McD’s in Massachusetts a few years back but didn’t order anything to eat. Continue reading Food Review: McDonald’s Mozzarella Sticks
