Kimpton Eventi NYC’s Very Confusing Welcome Gift

Kimpton EventiI recently had a tough decision to make, what to do with my last uncapped IHG Anniversary Free Night.

After deciding that the free night wouldn’t be of much use on our upcoming trips, I decided to use it for a stay at the Kimpton Eventi NYC. Check out my review of the property here.

After a speedy check-in, we went to up to our room before heading out for dinner. Continue reading Kimpton Eventi NYC’s Very Confusing Welcome Gift

Hotel Review: Kimpton Eventi New York City

kimpton eventiI recently shared details about what I booked with my last uncapped IHG anniversary free night.

Last year, I used my free night for a stay at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco in Philadelphia. After the stay, I felt the property was worth writing a review about. Check out my review of the Kimpton Monaco here.

This year, I was hoping to use my anniversary free night for a trip being planned. However, nothing really made sense for us so I decided to use my free night for another Kimpton stay.

Contributor Ridiculous Street Signs #14: Kung Fu Deer- Thailand

ThailandI love coming across funny signs both at home and while traveling around the world. Most of the time these signs aren’t meant to be funny, regardless, humor can be found in them.

From time to time, I post about funny signs which I call, Ridiculous Street Signs.

A few months back, I posted about an interesting traditional hat that I came across over the summer. While in Azerbaijan and Georgia, I searched for a traditional papakha hat!

This post led to an e-mail from a reader who wanted to contribute a sign he came across in a national park in Thailand. Continue reading Contributor Ridiculous Street Signs #14: Kung Fu Deer- Thailand

Find Out What We Tried At McDonald’s Spain

McDonaldsOver February break, the Michael W Travels family visited Barcelona, Spain.

During our visit, we had to make a visit to McDonalds. We ended up stopping by during our first day… Continue reading Find Out What We Tried At McDonald’s Spain

Anthony Bourdain Recommended: Pinotxo Bar- Barcelona, Spain

Anthony BourdainWhile doing some research related to places to dine in Barcelona, I came across Pinotxo bar (Pinocchio) thanks to Travel Channel.

Travel Channel listed Pinotxo Bar as a favorite of Anthony Bourdain so I immediately added it to my list. (We attempted to go to one other restaurant which made the list but failed…)

Pinotxo Bar is located in the famous Boqueria Market, the most famous market in Barcelona. Continue reading Anthony Bourdain Recommended: Pinotxo Bar- Barcelona, Spain

25 Hours In Andorra!

andorraOver President’s Week break the Michael W Travels family headed to Barcelona.

Barcelona was the first European city I visited (around 20 years back) but it was the first visit  for the rest of my family. It’s fun to revisit places I’ve been but I still like to squeeze in a new destination, too.

While planning the trip back to Spain, I knew this was the perfect opportunity to finally make it to Andorra, a tiny UN member state up in the Pyrenees mountains, between Spain and France. Continue reading 25 Hours In Andorra!

Ridiculous Street Signs #25: Hot Dogs- Linden, New Jersey

Hot DogWhile on the way to a friend’s house in New Jersey, the Michael W Travels family decided to stop for lunch along the way.

Our food stop would be just past Staten Island, in Linden, NJ. The White Rose Diner is the kind of place where you feel like you’re stepping back in time. The most famous items on the menu are sliders and sandwiches made with Taylor Ham (a salty, porky NJ specialty). Continue reading Ridiculous Street Signs #25: Hot Dogs- Linden, New Jersey

Save Money When You Visit Andorra With This Pass

andorraDuring President’s Week Break, the Michael W Travels family visited Spain (Barcelona) and Andorra.

This was a relatively short trip and we found out that this was possibly the worst time to fly to Europe. It also didn’t help that Hotels.com screwed up our reservation in Barcelona.

After spending a couple of days in Barcelona, we drove around 2.5 hours to the small country of Andorra which is located in the Pyrenees Mountains between Spain and France. Continue reading Save Money When You Visit Andorra With This Pass
