Keeping Track of Countries In A Permanent Way

Screen Shot 2014-02-16 at 7.19.48 PMI use a few sites to track the countries that I’ve visited but none are as permanent as this. A couple of favorites sites that I use are TravBuddy and MostTraveledPeople.

TravBuddy is great because it makes a really cool personalized travel map which also tells you the percentage of the world that you’ve visited. (Check out my map at the bottom of my site .) MostTraveledPeople is really useful because it breaks things down even more. It also tracks states/ regions and disputed territories as well as also offering a UNESCO World Heritage Site tracker and some other useful tools.

Screen Shot 2014-02-08 at 12.04.18 PMKim and I love maps and have a few interesting ones hanging on our walls. Maps can make for a great piece of art while also being quite interesting and informative.

I came across a bunch of very different maps thanks to Thrillist.

  • College Humor Presents: 9 Oddly Fascinating Pop Culture Maps

I figured that the maps featured would be really silly and of little interest but after looking over them I have to say- the title does not lie. I mean, some of the maps were a bit ridiculous but a bunch of them really were fascinating!

In a leaked phone call, the top U.S. Diplomat to Europe allegedly can be heard saying “Fuck the EU”.

Victoria Nuland is the Assistant Secretary for European Affairs. In the leaked call, (according to CNN) voices closely resembling those of Assistant Secretary Nuland and U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt discuss a plan to broker a deal between the Ukrainian government and the opposition.

At one point the woman, who sounds like Nuland, can be heard saying “f**k the EU.”

Screen Shot 2014-01-31 at 12.37.17 AM

I came across the Buzzfeed article: 18 Everyday Products You’ve Been Using Wrong a while back and found some of the things listed to be very useful. I found the list to be more like a list of lifehacks than things you’ve been doing wrong.

What City Should You Actually Live In? Take the Buzzfeed Quiz!

What City Should You Actually Live In

Last month I wrote about a fun New York Times Dialect Quiz. In the quiz there are 25 questions. Once you answer them, your personal dialect map gets created. The map shows your 2 least and most similar cities. The quiz seemed to be pretty accurate. I am from Brooklyn, New York and after answering the quiz, it said my 3 most similar cities were New York, New Jersey and Yonkers.

I just came across another fun quiz. This one is from Buzzfeed and tries to help figure out What city you should actually live in?

According to the Buzzfeed post: Just because you were born somewhere doesn’t mean you belong there.

Screen Shot 2013-12-25 at 3.55.21 PM

McDonald’s is one of the most successful fast food chains in the world and Ronald McDonald is possibly one of the world’s most recognizable mascots.

Most products that McDonald’s offers go on to be successful but boy did they miss the mark with the relatively new Mighty Wings.

McDonald’s purchased around 50 million pounds of chicken wings and they weren’t able to sell enough of them. This left the fast food giant with 20% of their inventory,  10 million pounds of wings which are in frozen storage.
