Glad I Double-Checked Amex Offers, $375 Free Money!

Last week I read about a limited & targeted offer from Amex Offers which gave a $75 statement credit when making a purchase of $250 or more at select stores.

If the offer was available in your account, it could be redeemed up to five times. This means that if the offer is maxed out you could get up to $375 for free from American Express! Not bad at all…

This year has been a pretty slow one for credit card sign up bonuses so far.

Considering that we’re almost half way through 2015, I find it a bit surprising that I’ve only received four new cards to date. By the way, I also got Kim a couple of cards.

If I keep up this pace for 2015, I most likely won’t even earn 500,000 miles/ points from bonuses.

Here are the amount of miles I’ve earned thanks to credit card sign up bonuses in recent years:

  • 2011 775,000 miles & points
  • 2012 753,150 miles & points
  • 2013 665,000 miles & point
  • 2014 605,000 miles & points

However, yesterday I received an e-mail from Southwest that I’m really excited for.

OpenTable is a great way to get reservations at lots of good restaurants plus you get a little something back when using the app.

Most dines earn 100 points and the lowest tier award of $20 off is earned when you get 2,000 points. There are also some restaurants which offer 1,000 points per dine which is equivalent to a solid $10 off a future dine.

On September 18, 2014 I was on a flight to Las Vegas for the BoardingArea Conference aka BAcon. While connected through Gogo, I came across a price mistake for the Omni Berkshire Place hotel, located in midtown Manhattan on Dan’s Deals.

For those of us with the Club Carlson credit card, booking award nights can bring us double the value. When booking a stay of two or more nights, the second night is free although that’s about to change in just a few days.

The stay two, get one free benefit is one of the most awesome hotel program benefits but it will be going away at the end of this month. The last day for Club Carlson credit card holders to book stays with this benefit is May 31, 2015. I called to confirm this although I’ve read that some think the benefit ends on May 28…
