When the $75 annual fee appeared on the bill for my Bank of America Alaska Airlines Business card I knew that I had a very important call to make.

Since the Alaska Airlines card isn’t one that I really use, I wanted to see if there was anything the bank could do or offer me to keep my card.

$200 Amex Platinum Airline Fee Credits Posted

american express platinum card benefitsThe new year brings another $200 in airline fee credits to redeem on my Amex Platinum card. (The credit helps to offset the pricey $450 annual fee that comes with the card.)

Last year I used my fee credit to purchase Southwest gift cards. Since Kim had the Southwest Companion Pass and we needed a third ticket for Lucas. The $200 in credits would definitely come in handy for future bookings.

Citi AA Amex Retention Offer, No Thanks

Yesterday afternoon I gave Citibank a call to see if there were any worthwhile retention offers available for my American Airlines Platinum Select American Express credit card.

Since I currently have a bunch of American Airlines cards, I was leaning toward closing this one unless an offer (while highly unlikely) seemed like one that I couldn’t refuse.

An E-Mail Bringing 40000 Miles Of Great News

A few days later I was happy to see that the bonus miles from my secure message had posted so I decided to share the good news!

Chase Sapphire Preferred Retention Offer?

Back in 2013 I signed up for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card for the second time. I received a very solid 55,000 points (50K sign-up + 5K for adding an authorized user) as a signup bonus.

A couple of weeks back the steep $125 annual membership fee showed up on my monthly statement.

Bonus Bump: 10,000 Extra Miles For US Airways Mastercard

With 2014 quickly coming to a close, I decided to apply for the Barclaycard US Airways Mastercard a few weeks back. I figured that it was an easy way to add 40,000 miles before the card disappeared and the program became a part of AAdvantage.

I used the card for a small charge one time and will be receiving the bonus soon after I pay my bill which includes the annual fee of $89.
