Giving up your seat or getting bumped from a flight can be quite profitable.

On the way home from our winter break trip to Austin, Texas, the Michael W Travels family received $2,700 in Delta Airlines vouchers for giving up our three seats on the flight back to NYC.

While I think we did pretty well, it’s nothing compared to what woman received from United Airlines for getting bumped. Continue reading United Airlines Bumps Passenger, Gives $10,000 Voucher (Not A Typo!)

I’d Love To Try This International McDonalds Burger

When traveling to other countries, I love visiting McDonald’s to see what kind of interesting menu items might be offered.

McD’s is also a good option when you’re traveling  with little kids since they’re usually excited to get a little toy with their meal. (A big added bonus is when the location still has a play area.)

I’ve previously written about McDonald’s we’ve visited in: Continue reading I’d Love To Try This International McDonalds Burger

In 2017, drug smugglers tried to sneak into the US dressed as a pilot on a flight from Kingston, Jamaica. The plan did not work…

Last week, a crewmember for Fly Jamaica Airways was arrested trying to smuggle $160,000 worth of cocaine into NYC from Montego Bay, Jamaica. Continue reading $160,000 Worth Of Cocaine Hidden On Fly Jamaica Airways Crew Member At JFK

You Can Fly On The Last Virgin America Flight

Virgin America

Last summer, the Michael W Travels family flew Virgin America at the beginning and end of our five week trip to the Pacific. These will end up being the first and last flights we’ll ever take with the airline.

On the last day of the trip, our Fiji Airways flight from Vanuatu to Nadi was delayed, causing us to miss later flights. Virgin America totally helped us out, changing a flight we missed at no cost so we’ll definitely miss their customer- friendly policies. The Most Beautiful Museum Staircases in the World?

museum
Museum of Islamic Art- Doha, Qatar

When visiting a museum, I can’t say that I usually pay much attention to their staircases.

I recently came across an article from Architectural Digest about 8 of the Most Beautiful Museum Staircases in the World.  When I saw the title of the article Continue reading The Most Beautiful Museum Staircases in the World?

Ridiculous Street Signs #24: Watch For Old People- Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus

Northern CyprusWhether it be at home or while traveling, I love coming across odd and strange signs. Over the years I’ve posted a collection of Ridiculous Street Signs.

Ridiculous Street Signs aren’t an easy thing to come across. These days, it seems like I might find one good sign per year. I’ve also shared signs contributed by readers and friends. Continue reading Ridiculous Street Signs #24: Watch For Old People- Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus

Win 100,000 Southwest Rapid Rewards Points!

Rapid RewardsSouthwest Airlines is an interesting option for domestic flights as well as some international destinations primarily around the Caribbean. (The airline doesn’t assign seats and still includes free checked bags on flights.)

With the added bonus of the Companion Pass, we got to see a good amount of the US thanks to Southwest. (For those of you not familiar with the Companion Pass, it allows you to choose a partner who flies for free with you when you book a flight. All they pay are the taxes.) Cutting Bus Service For Rideshare, Waterbirth In The Red Sea, New Disney World Fees, McDonald’s Greece, Delta Airlines Subscription Box, Tragedy At Cirque Du Soleil & More- The Rehash!

rehash

This week I started using the US Bank Altitude Reserve credit card. The card has a steep $400 annual fee but it’s offset by a $325 annual travel credit along with many other benefits.

For the first year, the Altitude Reserve is a great deal although I can’t see keeping it after that. The card has an interesting bonus category, 3X points with mobile wallet purchases so I just started using Apple Pay. Less than half of the businesses I’ve used the card at to date accept Apple Pay but it’s a pretty cool payment option which I might even start to use with other credit cards in the future.
